Is the official announcement 'coming this week' as rumored, or was it all a PLOY for Texas and Oklahoma to get bigger shares than their Big 12 brethren?
It's already rumored the Big 12 Commish has offered TX/OU Big 12 share increases to $56 million each at 'everybody else's expense' to stay in the Big 12.
That's bigger than any Big 10 ($54 million) or SEC ($45 million) payout.

I'm suspicious this is shades of the big 'We're taking Tech and Okie jr to the PAC 12" bluff in 2010. hmmmmm
I fully understand why the SEC would want this to go through as their next media rights package would go through the stratosphere. Are they simply being used?

I could see it happening because TX/OU would be perfect regional fits, but I'm not completely sold that it'll actually happen. What say you?

It doesn't matter
The Big XII payout will never keep up/

It’s a lot more exciting than Mizzou/aTm expansion.

I can see how those on the outside might view it, but I’m excited. Only thing I’m bummed about is our OOC schedule. The future looked really nice, and I suspect they will have to mix it up again. Do the gators still get credit for their scheduled 2030/31 series vs Texas? :rip:

Wait a second.

Texas fans said the reason they didn’t go to the PAC was because they were looking out for all those other teams.

so you’re telling me that was all bullshit?

It could if there were structural changes made.

1) Texas stops underachieving.
2) Texas gives up the LHN
3) Expansion to 14 teams
4) A Conference Network
5) Equal share media rights contracts with FOX/ESPN

This isn't a real plan.

Not immediately but could be long term.

Like every other conference the BIG 12's already got it's Anchor Stores in TX/OU.

Add G5's that are fucking serious about investing in and taking the next step with their football programs.

Expand with a Houston, Memphis, UCF, Cincinnati, UAB?, BYU, or Boise St.
All of which would beat Big 10, PAC, ACC, and even SEC bottom feeders.

Maybe poach an Arizona School or even Notre Dame

The Big 12 was mismanaged from day one. It simply was a house of cards.

Houston, Memphis, UCF, Cincinnati, BYU, or Boise St.

All of those teams would likely be (2-2) at worst against Nebraska over the last 4 years.
Tough to swallow, but true.
Yet the likes of Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Rutgers, Maryland, etc.. garner $54 million per team for the Big 10?
Everybody's got their bottom feeders.

Basically TX/OU are admitting a failed original plan (the Big 12 South controlled everything) and have no business acumen for success going forward other than to throw in the towel and suck the SEC teet. LOL

With this failure, basically tejas (who had massive control) has once again underachieved. LOL
It was their little baby to nurture.

Why the hell are the Nebraska fans losing it over what Oklahoma/Texas do? It's like someone still being butt hurt years later over their high school sweetheart dumping them. Jeez.

The Big XII needs really good P5 teams to come in/back.
Hoping that some G5 team makes it someday is no plan at all.

That's great in theory but nobody in a P5 conference is joining the Big 12 after Texas and OU leave. There are some AAC teams that could bring value to the Big 12 (-4) though. UCF would be a great addition. Cincy would be ok. Houston would be a good addition as well but I'm not sure the other Texas schools in the conference would want Houston on equal footing with them.

Losing it?

We're LOFAO!!!! We saw this shit coming years ago. Long before Nebraska even bolted to the Big 10.

It was a failed business model from the get go to put all the power in tejas hands. As a blueblood Oklahoma was going to fare well regardless of what happened.
The remaining little brothers are getting their just rewards for voting WITH tejas on everyone of their 'leadership' proposals.

Nobody underachieves like tejas. NOBODY!!!

From someone who might know:

The idea was floated at the B12 meeting last Thursday. 3 schools, OSU, TTech and TCU quickly opposed the idea. It was never offered to OU and UT. End of story.

And yeah fuck that shit. If they want to take their ball and go home so be it, but the tier 3 rights distribution has made them way more profitable than other schools in the conference for a decade. My school benefitted but they really milked everyone else so something like this to keep everyone together is just ridiculous.

This is akin to a significant other being screwed around on and warning their ex's new significant other "They did it to me, they'll do it to you too" and being right. It's quite rewarding. Of course there's gonna be an "I told you so".

Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, and A&M have all been waiting a decade for the donghorn business model for the Big 12 to crash and burn. That tejas doesn't have the acumen to pull out of the nosedive and are throwing in the towel on the suckers tells you everything you need to know. We told you so!!

So. If you're Nebraska who gives a shit? We all know what Texas is like to live with. If you don't beat them down once in awhile they're insufferable. But (a) most schools in the Big XII had only one chance to get payouts like they've been getting and that was to kiss Texas @$$ and (b) only a couple of those schools made any attempt to improve their brand so if the day came that Texas (and/or Oklahoma) jumped ship they would be able to survive the fallout. They were like someone pedaling a bicycle downhill and they had convinced themselves they were great athletes. Time to pay the piper. But Nebraska shouldn't waste any time on yelling to anyone who will listen "WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!". Yeah you told them. They didn't listen. Fuck'em. Go get better yourselves. I'm a Huskers fan too and I'm tired of this losing nonsense at Nebraska.
