Considered a Southern state or no? To me Arkansas seems more like a Midwest state, sort of same boat as Missouri and Oklahoma.

I think Arkansas' perception of a Southern state is because of it's membership of the SEC.

Or membership in the Confederate States of America.

Same with Kansas. Oklahoma starts to get tricky. Arkansas is in the South just because of how backwards everything is there.

Someone hasn't been to Arkansas

Arkansas is part of the South. Definitely not a midwest state or a plains state like Oklahoma.

I get the argument that "it's not a part of the deep South like Georgia/Alabama", but I'd point out that more northerly states like Kentucky and even North Carolina are considered Southern states.
