Just hypothetically throwing this out here, but a potential schedule would look like this. Since USC and UCLA aren't in the conference yet, im going to have them play each other in this scenario. And use the games from Oct 30th of this past season.

Fox Noon: #6 Michigan at #8 Michigan State
CBS 3:30: #20 Penn State #5 Ohio State
NBC 7:30: USC vs. UCLA OR Wisconsin at #9 Iowa
FS1 Noon: Purdue at Nebraska
BTN Noon: Northwestern at Minnesota
FS1 3:30: USC vs. UCLA OR Wisconsin at #9 Iowa
BTN 3:30: Indiana at Maryland
Peacock 3:30: Illinois at Rutgers

You're still going to get a good game in the primetime slot. And the only thing the network cares about is getting a good rating. Wisconsin vs. Iowa drew almost 2 million viewers and it was going opposite MSU/Michigan, UT/Baylor and a Cincy game with playoff implications. You stick a game like that in primetime, it's gonna get probably around 4 million, even going up against an SEC game on ABC and ESPN.

ND vs. UNC would have been the lead in to the primetime game. Not a great lead in game because of UNC's struggles, but not a bad game by any means.

There’s times like this it will absolutely happen, sure. But it won’t be every time and when it’s not and the earlier time slot networks picking out the 2 games that look good and in prime time we are stuck with something unappealing. You would think the conference would buy some language in there to prevent this from happening constantly but maybe not.

The money is great, but as you said in your previous post the fans don't like it. At some point, they will stop coming to early games and just watch on their 82" HD TVs. In a lot of ways, the move to the 9-game IC schedule, and the 3-6-6 format is being driven by fans. When 2/3 of your schedule sucks because you play teams once every 6 years, they have to do something.

again, fans can be mad but what are they gonna do..other than show up? or just stay and watch from home.. they getting paid regardless. So if you have to play your bigger games at noon, so be it..they are chasing the dollars.

for the fans.. but you think ADs/Presidents are going to tell FOX something when they are paying the most of their media deals? Gonna suck for tosu since they are the marquee school of that conference.. they will be getting most of those time slots

I think we are talking around each other. I know they aren't going to go away as long as they make money. I know that the fans will hate them. At some point it will be TV money v. gate if people stop going to those types of games. Maybe that never happens, but it will be interesting.

Noon times have gotten higher viewerships lately.. but as far as fans who are filling up those stadiums.. they hate it. They want to enjoy tailgating and partying before walking into the stadium.. tough to do that at 9 am in the morning.

I’m just saying, you’d think there would be some language in there to allow fox to have a night game or two, especially if they are Paying all that money. And it’s not just the bucks visiting but also PSU and Michigan and hell depending on the year Iowa and Wisconsin may be a good matchup for USC too. That could be a once a year thing.

Fox doesn't want night games. They've built their whole marketing campaign around Big Noon. They have their pregame leading into the their game. They've honestly done a great job building this from the ground up. It helps get them viewership for their pregame show, which helps promote Big Noon and the rest of the games they have for the day. I understand where you're coming from with the night game aspect for Fox, but they've spent the last 4 years promoting the hell out of Big Noon, it doesn't make sense to mix up that messaging from a marketing standpoint.

It will also be good because the primetime game will have ND as the lead in on NBC. That's good especially if a team like USC, MSU, PSU or Michigan is the NBC game because those ND fans will stick around to watch them hopefully lose.

CBS contracted that with the SEC. So yes, they get a night game, but its on top of what they are airing at 3:30. But they don't put the kind of promotion into it that Fox does.
