Nobody cares about your angst.Separated / divorced / disgraced is not married, Rex. For example, I share a bed with my wife and it’s not imaginary or a birdhouse.

Not what that word means, Rex. A better usage would be, "Did Rex's wife leave him because he was gay, or was it angst over keeping him from being mega-gay?"Nobody cares about your angst.
Mark McGuire hit 49 homers as a rookie but yetHe showed plenty of power in Minnesota (18 home runs in just 89 games in 2001, slugged .500 and hit 20 home runs in 128 games in 2002). Ortiz was also a top 100 prospect entering his first full MLB season and crushed minor league pitching (.309/.381/.532, not to mention he hit .317/.372/.568 with 38 doubles and 31 home runs across A+/AA/AAA before getting promoted). He also battled various injuries as a Twin (torn ACL in 1999, wrist fracture in 2001, missed a month to remove bone chips in his knee in 2002). Moving from the Metrodome to Fenway also probably didn't hurt.
Not saying he didn't use PEDs, but I think there's a lot more to explain than "DURR HURR STEROIDS"
Ortiz should be in IMO. He was incredibly clutch in the postseason and his WS in 2013 was one of the best I’ve seen. With Ortiz in, we should see Canseco get in soon......
Meh....First ballot, hell no. No MVP's, one dimensional player, PED's, etc. He's more comparable to Canseco than bonds.Ortiz should be in IMO. He was incredibly clutch in the postseason and his WS in 2013 was one of the best I’ve seen.
But to have him in and Not Bonds is a FARCE. Both 100% took PEDs. Only difference is Bonds was already a HOFer before he took his and Ortiz wasn’t.
When a God damn closer is the first ever unanimous HOFer, it’s time to burn down the current system and start from scratchMeh....First ballot, hell no. No MVP's, one dimensional player, PED's, etc. He's more comparable to Canseco than bonds.
Bonds 100% should be in.
Baseball HOF lost me awhile ago. Griffey not a unanimous???!! GTFO.
Easily a better pick that Ortiz.Reckon what the case against Scott Rolen and his 70 WAR was?
Agreed. There is a huge difference between Rose and Bonds.World of difference between the all-time hits leader and some swole-headed douches like Big Papi or Barry Bonds.
Big Papi.No.
But steroids does take an already HOF talent in Bonds and elevates him to cheat code levels of power.
They unquestionably enhance performance. They won't make a guy who never would have played in the league a Hall of Famer, but they might elevate a borderline guy to the Hall.
I didn't realize peds were not against the rules.Agreed. There is a huge difference between Rose and Bonds.
One broke a rule, one did not. One AGREED to being banned for life, one did not.
Nice to see we are all on the same page here.
There wasn’t a rule, though. There was a memo out of Vincents office (I think it was Vincent?? Was it Selig?) saying he wanted players to not use PEDs. It was never made a rule. It never went through the MLBPA. It was just a desire of the commissioner. Nothing more. What do you call a rules that has no penalty? Ludicrous. MLB had no defined penalties for roid use. The writers took it upon themselves to convict and sentence those players. Fuck them.
Wasn’t really a rule with consequences until 2005. The earlier version had no teeth. There wasn’t a rule, though. There was a memo out of Vincents office (I think it was Vincent?? Until about ‘02 when it was actually made a rule with consequences.
It was this, in memo form:Wasn’t really a rule with consequences until 2005. The earlier version had no teeth.
They were not. And even if they were, Bonds never failed a test. The leaked results were supposed to be anonymous and not for policing purposes. It was essentially for census purposes.I didn't realize peds were not against the rules.
I wasn’t certain if the exact year, but yes.Wasn’t really a rule with consequences until 2005. The earlier version had no teeth.
