Who gets in? Who gets left out? Last chance for Bonds, Clemens and Sosa until the veterans committee lets them in.

I’m gonna say David Ortiz will be the only inductee even though the other PED users will have to wait until the veterans committee and Edgar Martinez had to wait over 10 years

Has the BBWA emotionally recovered from there being no Jeter on the ballot?

I think Schilling and Ortiz will get in. Maybe Bonds/Clemens but I have a feeling they'll fall just short. A-Rod should be a slam dunk but he's probably got a long road ahead of him. I think Rolen is going to get inducted within the next few years.

Barry Bonds, Rogers Clemens and Curt Schilling ... and then no one else until Sweet Lou Whitaker and Shoeless Joe Jackson

I get Schilling is a dick, but he was much at the game of baseball than Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard were combined.

Ryan Howard has a career bWAR of 14.7. This is bullshit and this dude should lose his vote.

Why should he lose his vote?

b/c he voted for Ryan Howard? Howard isn't even in the "hall of very good" type of category.
He was on the ballot.

And this guy covers the Phillies for a living.

I support his continued voting and fans having no say whatsoever.

Stop looking at WAR and thinking it affects HOF voting. Cuz it doesnt.

this is a retarded take and you should feel bad about it.

sure

Howard also only finished with an .800+ OPS on seven different occasions. He finished with an OPS of below .800 five different times. He isn't even close to being a HOF player. .258 lifetime BA, less than 400 homers and less than 1500 hits.

Schilling isn't even the biggest POS on the ballot. Vizquel's got him beat.

As for Howard... alright, let's ignore WAR.

.258/.343/.515, 125 OPS+, 382 home runs, 1194 RBI, 848 runs scored, 1475 hits in 6531 PA

I think it's fair to say he was one of the better power hitters of all-time, but overall he was more of a very good hitter than a great one. Power hitters are plentiful at 1B and his .343 OBP isn't that great for a 1B. His 125 OPS+ is lower than the likes of Rizzo/Teixeira/Mattingly/Keith Hernandez/Adrian Gonzalez/Olerud/Klesko/Hrbek, the majority of those players have gotten very little if any HOF consideration. Howard is not known for his defensive prowess or baserunning. He had some gaudy RBI totals, but that's to be expected from a power hitter and he was in some pretty loaded lineups. Howard had only three seasons in the NL where he finished in the top ten in OPS+, only one top 5 finish (2006). I think he was a great hitter for a while, but I don't think he was historically good. And I certainly don't think it was good enough to offset a short career.

Howard was pretty awful after the injury in the playoffs... .226/.292/.427 (95 OPS+) in his final five seasons

Carlos Delgado had 473 home runs, a much better career statline over a much longer career, and only got 3.8% of the vote and fell off after his first year.

That voter also called the Phillies a "dynasty'... lmfao. Rolen/Abreu were far superior players.
