269 Yrds/G 13 TD/5 INT before he got hurt. Not necessary blowing up but definitely validate why he was picked at the top of the draft and confident he's a future franchise QB.

No I don't believe Fields is the problem. Bears is just a young team who's been rebuilding the last couple of years and currently have a ton of cap space. I like Justin Fields a lot and wouldn't mind keeping him and building around him. But I'm also realistic to know that there are upgrades in this draft at QB. If the Bears are so bad at developing QBs then maybe we should just trade Fields to a team who can and draft a QB who needs less developing
269 ypg in his rookie year, with the worst o-line in the league, average WRs and a weak D.

In 40 games, Fields has surpassed 269 yards in a game, 4 times.

Please, Bears, just keep doing what you are doing.

Well then why the Burrow comparison,if you wanna compare qbs, compare him with Trubisky.....
I didn't bring Burrow into this conversation. If you read, I even said repeatedly that's an awful comparison.

He also threw the ball 40 times a game. Again, he's a bad comparison for Fields, but he didn't start his career white hot or anything.

I'm not sure there's a QB in this draft who is further along in his development than Fields currently, or is even an upgrade. I think he's got a very obvious connection with DJ Moore and Cole Kmet, which is something to continue to build on especially with a new OC. Guess time will tell.

If I'm an NFL team I'm not risking a pick on Williams and there is a valid argument for picking McCarthy. The kid is super smart, has ability, and an unbelievable work effort. He is never going to be a Mahomes but could be a Kirk Cousins type and that ain't bad.

If you have the option of drafting "maybe Kirk Cousins" or trading down with some idiot that wants to put all their eggs in the Caleb basket and getting a massive haul, I'm taking the latter without a second thought.

The no-brainer is to trade down without any doubt.

If there was an Andrew Luck in this class I wouldn't blame them at all for trading Fields and pulling the trigger at #1, but I don't see one. However, the chance to build up the rest of the team with high-end young talent is just too appealing. Fields needs to improve, no doubt, and they're finally bringing in a coherent OC. If he's their QB and he can't improve, they've gotta go elsewhere in 2025 no doubt, but what better way to break in a new QB than with a supremely talented team around him? Trading down seems like a win/win to me any way you slice it.

I don't hate Fields. I remember what he did in the playoffs against Clemson and he went for 385 yards and had 6 TDs against a very good team.

He has the tools.

He's definitely got the tools to be a really good QB, if not better. The Bears haven't helped him much, but he's also got areas of improvement. Good news is he's still young, so if his future isn't in Chicago he has plenty of time to put together a great career.
