LOL Fields gave the defense enough points for an entire 60 minute game. Was he supposed to put up 56 to ensure the defense doesn't fuck it all up or something??

Again, you didn't watch that play. Not sure it was a broken play but it was definitely a blown assignment, the blitzer was literally untouched. He had 0 time to make any kind of throw. The fumble is <1% on him.

My Ohio State fanhood aside, he's the most talented QB the Bears have had in ages. Do me a favor - name one QB who, in his first 3 years in the league, had complete trash coaching/coaching turnover and (for the majority of the time) a trash OL and trash weapons and actually looked great.
You just said it. He had zero time, yet he still tried to. He should've eaten it, and lived to fight another day. It was a crucial mistake, at a crucial point in the game. 100% on him.

Sort of a catch-22. If you draft more QBs, you have a higher likelihood of one of them working out in theory. At the same time, the issue might be with your coaching and development, and it doesn't matter which QB you draft, you aren't going to develop any of them (current and, basically eternal, situation in Chicago). At the same time, you've drafted those QBs instead of addressing other needs, and now those needs still exist while you have a roster of QBs that aren't contributing.

Yeah, its just a theory but one that seemed interesting to me.

In theory, yes it makes sense to continually draft the most important position, even when you have a franchise qb in place. Because they're so valuable, if you end up with multiple good QBs, you can put those assets to work and trade for other pieces or draft capital.

In practice its more difficult due to roster constraints and practice/game time reps.

The argument for this practice references New England and Green Bay as franchises that have drafted a lot of QBs and it worked out. But you also have franchises like Cleveland that drafted QBs every year in the first round and none have worked.

*everything goes to shit on the play that didn't have anything to do with Fields and he tried to throw it away*

Did he have time to throw it or not? Is it someone's else's job to protect the football when it's in his hands?

Broken plays happen every game. It's not an automatic excuse to fumble. It was 7 points for a dead team. Lit the spark, and never looked back.

No it means what you said was bullshit, because what you said was bullshit.
How? The ball is in his hands. no on else's. He tried to do too much, in a spot where the only priority should have been to protect the football.

LMAO Cutler was in his 4th year as a pro before he came to Chicago and threw 49 INTs in his first 3 years, try again moron.

I think this point is much more relevant to Chicago, as they're the only team that's been worse at developing QBs than Cleveland. If they don't fix the coaching staff, it won't matter if it's Fields, Caleb Williams, or whoever else, they're going to be in the same cycle every year.

It's so cute how angry and mean you get defending your Ohio boy.

Totally normal. Not weird at all.

A dead team?? It was 28-21. You really didn't watch that game, did you. It's someone else's job to protect the QB from blitzers, or are you saying Fields should've blocked for himself?

I think I gave you way too much credit for knowing anything about football. You're a carbon copy of the dumbshit Browns fans that piled onto Baker and blamed everything on him while ignoring the myriad of other massive shortfalls on the team around him. It wasn't surprising that Baker had a great year once he joined a coherent team while Cleveland has a $45m a year bum playing QB the next 3 years.

It doesn't matter. Had he held the ball and taken the sack you would've blamed him for taking the sack and not trying to throw it away. That's just the type of fan you are.

28-7, when Denver marches down the field and scores with an impressive drive. Steal some of the momentum back. How did the Bears answer? By going 3 and out in one of the gayest series' of the year, including a design QB run where he slid down after 2 yards. Punt. Now Denver is really stealing the moment. They put another big drive together for another score, and now they have all the momentum. Down 21-28, but rockin'. What happens next, on the first play of the Bears' drive? That fumble, to tie the game up, and ultimately propel them to the victory.

Bears D shit the bed on 2 drives there, but that fumble can't happen. Free blitzer or not. He HAS to protect the football there. You can make excuses all fucking day, but HE fumbled it. No one else.

Oh so now we're just making shit up? I guess this is where, I say you'd suck his dick if he asked?

Maybe if his windup wasn't that of a Sandy Koufax era baseball pitcher, he could've.

The Bears scored 28 points on 4 Fields TDs. Only 4 teams in the entire NFL averaged 28 PPG and they all made the playoffs. That is obviously enough to win, and he was the driving force of the offense. He had a monster game, yet you want to literally ignore all of his great play that day to focus on one play where he was hit by a blindside blitz immediately on a PA play. You are proving my point for me.
