No Bert to Wisconsin posts?
Well Wisconsin fans welcome to the carousel of chasing a better record. It isn’t a lock that this will happen ~ trust Husker fans on this, especially if the firing was all on the AD looking to put his mark on the program. Coaches will look at the body of Chryst’s work and be wondering if it’s even possible to win the B1G at Wisconsin or please the boosters and fan base. Chryst like Bert kept Alvarez’s Wisconsin identity going. The thing that killed Nebraska was the change in offensive philosophies every 4 years and having the wrong players for the system. The portal and Jucos lessens this but even the portal can be hit and miss. Most schools want instant success and that hurts the ability to use schollys for incoming freshman. Good luck Wisky fans

Nebraska will win a Natty before Georgia wins another one. I'll bet my left nut on that one.
So we back?
Also, does anyone here need an extra left nut??

Nebraska but not by much.

Issue with Wisconsin is Green Bay Packers. Most people in that state tend to go Packers over Badgers. The two programs do compete for fan attention and support.

It's not close, this state is owned by the Packers as far as sports go. Probably because the people of the state believe they own the Packers.

Haven't read this thread so don't know if this has been stated yet, but part of me thinks they did this just to hang onto Leonhard knowing that other schools would be calling on him.

Okay, now I'm beginning to wonder if you are even interested in a decent discussion. You just listed four that I know for a fact cut their teeth on "non pro style" offenses...one of 'em about 45 miles from where I live....and he played as much receiver at A&M as he did QB.

They CAN throw from the pocket but they damn sure didn't learn to do it from a pro style offense in their development. Do you even know who Mahomes, Mayfield (and Murray for that matter) played for in college? They damn sure weren't disciples of a "turn around and hand it off and throw it on 3rd and long" coach. He was about 180 degrees opposite of that in his stubborn ways...which ain't the way to do it either IMHO.
That is what they are doing in the NFL -- they have mobility to avoid the rush, but they aren't running QB's. You don't see them calling RPO plays for Mahomes. The team signed him to a $500 million dollar contract.

I wasn't stating those QB's were pocket passers in college or played in a pro style offense. I was listing the QB's in the NFL that teams aren't going to use RPO schemes for them.

Or to give him time for an audition like Nebraska's doing with Mickey.

Then what exactly have those alum been waiting for? Which recruits have Nebraska alum bought since NIL was allowed? Which high profile coach has the Nebraska alum brought on over the past 20 years? Hell -- when they hired Callahan, they had three separate coaches turn down the head coaching job before he agreed to it.

A&M bought an entire recruiting class and continues to buy recruits. Tennessee bought a 5 star QB. What is Nebraska waiting for?

I think Nebraska is not looking for the next Tom Osborne anymore. I think up to Bo, they were wanting the next Osborne. Now I think they would be happy with 9-win seasons.

Wisconsin is not looking for that. They just don't want to fall to the level of Nebraska.

So, I think Nebraska would be a better job IF the coach is successful.

I didn't realize that, and I was going to a college in NE at the time. I knew they wanted to go away from the option and go more west coast.

Are your saying that he is the best possible option out of, almost, every coach in America?
No, but not every coach in America is an option.

The fact is that the pool for decent coaches is very shallow, especially for P2 schools that have a shot at division titles.

So who do you think is better that will take the job?

WhoPhoneDis doesn't know shit.

Being interviewed for a job and actually being offered the job are two different things.

After the termination of Solich, at least 3 coaches rejected offers from Pederson. In the end, Pederson settled on Bill Callahan
