Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was fantastic
I really liked Poor Things
there a few others I need to think up...but there are certainly plenty of original ideas out there that are really good. It's not fair to paint the Hollywood scene with such a broad brush just because it is flooded with so many sequels/prequels and adaptations of books or comics...but there are still original ideas out there

Yes, I've never heard of it. Is it a drama? Usually "Best Picture" awards go to dramas. I care little of award shows or dramas.

It was a multi-universe SciFi flick. Very original, and very fun. Not your typical Oscar winning film.
I agree that movies as a whole are trash today. But there ARE gems that exist. AAEEO and JoJo Rabbit are two GREAT examples of very original movies from the last few years.
My pending question is... did "Big Hollywood" create them?

All of the talk about "Poor Things" made me wonder who has the US film rights to Bulgakov's "The Heart of a Dog". I'd love to see someone make that one, I think that people might really dig it.

I didn't expect to like Poor Things but dammit it was fun.
I like a little off the wall every so often.
and for a lot of prequals and sequals, as long as they aren't just carbon copies of the original, it is still a new story. I don't hate on a sequel to a book just because the author decided the story wasn't over
My stated opinion was that Hollywood has lost its creativity. You disagreed. I asked you to cite some good movies from the 2020's and you came up with two movies in those four years and both were made outside of Hollywood. Don't bother trying to come up with others, you already proved me right.

No movie will hit for everyone. That is fair. It is possible that a reasonable person will have a counter opinion on the movie.
But it was a WIDELY adored film, both by fans AND critics.
