Big 12 thread

Heck even I've done that.
I've also done it on ACC network and did on PAC Network when I had it.

I think he was referring to non gameday content.

Most of the time I'd rather been on FS1 or FS2 watching a Big 12 game than Kentucky/Mississippi St on SEC Network though.
That's just me personally because of Big 8/12 roots. I'm sure someone in Tennessee would tune into the Kentucky/Miss St game.

When it's not Saturday, people are gonna watch stuff that applies to their conference. Highlights, analysis, etc

Speaking from experience....

BTN has better college basketball games and analysis.
SECN has better college baseball games and analysis

ESPN literally doesn't carry college baseball until Regionals start. I get my fill from these conference networks.
I thought I lost the PAC network when I went to streaming tv. I found out the Roku I use has it on their channel lineup so I will be watching those games well into Sunday mornings again.

SEC has "more passion from the programs and fans"

Homerism overload.

Really?

I stream HULU through a Roku stick and it's not on HULU. I'm not a regular tv guy so I've never looked for it on Roku itself. I'll check it out.

Years ago I had PACN on Sling TV, but I canned Sling because I didn't like their overall sports content.

@CoalTrain isn't as far off as people think.

I have relatives and visit often North Carolina (ACC Country). There are a lot of people who watch SEC Football and ACC Basketball. ACC Football just doesn't have the fan support with the exception of Clemson, FSU, and maybe Virginia Tech.

B1G when it comes to fan support, is on par with SEC but the struggles of all the programs not named Ohio State is wearing on the fanbases there. The B1G does have some dead weights though: Rutgers, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue (although I have met a lot of Purdue fans).

With the exception of Oregon, Utah, and USC, I have never really met very many fans of teams in the Pac12. Like the Northeastern USA, the West Coast just doesn't seem that interested in College Sports.

I went with YouTube tv because it had all the sports channels sans PACn.

Says another SEC fan.

I've not tuned into SECN since the SEC baseball tournament ended in May. Like Thievery alluded, if there's nothing else on the major networks, halftimes, etc, I might go to SECN, but only for a short period.

I'd watch PACN after midnight because the rest of CFB east of the Rockies was done for the day.

To be fair, it is rare that the SECN has a major football matchup. Those games are usually on CBS, ESPN, or ESPN2. Most of the SECN games have two unranked SEC teams. If the SEC team is ranked, they are usually playing someone like Western Kentucky. You don't need SECN if you just want to watch major SEC matchups.

Nebraska fans,

Let me put it to you this way. Every SEC school with the exception of Missouri, sometimes Kentucky, and Vanderbilt generally fills their stadiums for most SEC games. Kentucky has been doing it lately since they have been good. Missouri did it with Penkel.

Compare that to the B1G who has dead weights like Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, and Maryland who rarely fill their stadiums for football games. Their team has to be ELITE to even draw fans (kind of the Kentucky/Missouri syndrome).

Sure the B1G has Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, and Ohio State which are all great stadiums to play at with amazing atmospheres but once you start going down the line of B1G teams, the atmospheres don't match up with the SEC.

"The B1G does have some dead weights though: Rutgers, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue"

Yeah.... Speaking of "dead weight". Here's your SECN lineup on Saturday.

That's what all the ACC, Big 10, and PAC 12 college football fans around the nation are making hot wings, bbq lil' weenies, and tater salad for.

LOL, three of those programs are in the top 25 all-time CFB rankings. They still fill their stadiums and have atmosphere. Heck, South Carolina has more of an atmosphere than half the B1G.

Also if Tennessee is such a dead weight, what does that make the B1G since Tennessee has won 5 straight over the B1G in bowl games including a blowout of Nebraska. In fact, that streak includes the top 4 B1G West programs: Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Northwestern.

The Big 10 media rights contract is king. Each team gets $54 million compared to the SEC's $45 million/team.

Those payouts are by formula and fluid based upon eyeballs tuning into events.

But teh SEC has "more passion from the programs and fans".

The numbers don't lie.

In the eyes of the nation, Tennessee has been SEC 'dead weight' for the last 15 years. Their only interest would be from SEC fans.
Hence the SEC fan homerism here.

We will see what the numbers look like when they renegotiate the contracts. If your league was doing so well, your programs would not be panicking about an Alliance.

A B1G team not named Ohio State hasn't won a Championship since 1997 in Football
A B1G team has not won a NCAA Title in Basketball since Michigan State in 2000 (I guess you could claim Maryland in 2002 but they were in the ACC then).

SEC plays for Championships, B1G plays for TV contracts I suppose.

If Tennessee is irrelevant, than everyone in the B1G is irrelevant the last 15 years except Ohio State.

As I pointed out, even an "irrelevant" Tennessee team owns the B1G. Had we been in the B1G West the last 15 years, we would probably have 3-4 Division Titles LMFAO.

Let's cut to the chase.......

Again..... The rest of the nation has NOT been flocking to the SECN, nor will they be.

No more than they'd flock to the PACN, ACCN, or BTN if they're not in the conference.

One 10 win season in 16 years.

That was 14 years ago.

"yEaH, BuT wE PlAy aN SeC sChEdUlE"

You guys haven't even been to a Bowl Game since Tennessee destroyed Nebraska in 2016. Talk about irrelevant.

To add insult to injury, you got destroyed by a BUTCH JONES coached Tennessee team. Let that sink in.
