Big East Basketball

Yeah, they need to get a lot better. SDSU and Nebraska are probably fringe tournament teams this year (might be giving Nebraska too much credit), so getting blown out by both isn't great.

Without Ashworth(and Fedoric) not sure they can get better. Just not a good balanced team.

With ashworth(if he’s not gone too long) and McDermott coaching they will make tourney and be fine. But overall not much upside.

The lack of any sort of off the bounce guards/wings is exposing just how overrated Kalk is. And how underrated the other two were the last couple years. Just massive losses that most everyone kinda randomly glossed over

Holy fuck Uconn

Creighton. What a joke

Kalkbrenner sucks

X getting destroyed now too.

What the fuck

Stonehill stinks. But the exact opponent we needed today.

The get Damarius Owens some run game. If we can get him up to speed. Game changer for our bench.

He was raved about all off season(Shaka runs a tight ship, info doesn't get out if its not legit). Ran the show in team scrimmage in August. 6'7 guard.

Every announcer who looks in on our practices(Oglesby and Martinelli ex.) have also went crazy about him. Busted a toe in Oklahoma scrimmage which derailed his start to season.

Looked excellent vs a brutal team. Need him to end up a key piece in January and on.

so Maui turned out to be a complete disaster for UConn

Not out of the realm of possibility they enter BE play with a 5-6 record. If that's the case, they'll have to go something like 16-4 to maybe be in position for an at large. But as of now, looks like Marquette and St Johns are the only quality wins you can get. Between the BE and ACC early starts, I'm genuinely curious if the SEC, B1G and Big 12 gets something like 28-30 of the at large spots.

Man, overall just a brutal start to Feast Week for the BE. 1-7 in their showcase games, with the lone win coming against South Carolina, which won't move the needle at all.

Playing like a one bid league, LMAO...

If Marquette rolls through the league, getting 2 or 3 seems very likely. As of now only 4 top 50 KenPom teams, and two of them are UConn and Creighton who, through 7 games, have no good wins and already 6 losses combined. If there is no separation after Marquette, meaning the 2nd place team is like 14-6 or 13-7 in league, 1 bid league is certainly on the table.

I think with our depth being in flux, mixed with lack of pure strength. We will still be very beatable against the BE teams in the top 6/7(who are currently under performing). Especially since I do expect some to improve quite a bit(might be too late for them tho)

What the league needs most outside of flat out winning more games themselves. Is Marquette to find a way to go 2-1 in their remaining 3 game non con gauntlet and then only win like 12 or 13 league games.

Because our non con would allow us to do that and still be very comfortable and that would allow for a lot of potential resume wins for other teams.

I think the league will realistically pick up a handful of good wins along the way, so 2 to 3 is more likely, but ... brutal for what was predicted and what the league is used to.

A down year was inevitable though.

Yea, some of these teams will look a lot better in Feb. UConn and Providence will look a little better. St Johns is now looking pretty decent dropping a couple close ones.

Doesn't help Marquette but there's also not a super terrible team in the league metric wise

Yeah I actually think St Johns is a clear tourney team talent wise and have already looked it even in their blunders. Tough thing for them is their non con sucks so they needed to not flop

Good point on the bottom of the league. There is gonna be no landmines like last year hold the league down. And theres potential if DePaul and Georgetown keep developing, that there will be minimal even "bad" metrics.

If everyone in the league can at the very least be Q2 for road teams. And most Q1. That will be huge

Yeah, that wasn't good. I watched UTEP go to the Islands for years and play like crap...especially when it was the second game coupled with @San Diego State game. But it was a game against Hawaii and they were the only traveler.

In a tournament situation, every team has to travel and live the Aloha distractions so that excuse can't be used.

Providence reaching a new low for the league

This one I am happy about though. Fuck them

Those are my thoughts any time Indiana or Wisconsin loses OOC. LOL. It'd be good for the league for IU to win, but it's also funny watching them get run out of the gym.

Seton Hall needs to go independent this year

DePaul last year at least could put the ball in the hoop sometimes.
