Big Ten Basketball

I keep waiting to see a team handle Michigan. Thought Wisconsin could be that team. 40-23 UM at the half.

I like Chaundee Brown. He's the opposite of Olivier Sarr in just about every way.

Michigan and everyone else as of now

Shit, i was out to dinner and saw Michigan leading by 40 with like 13 min to go in the 2nd half. They were on a 46-7 run or something.

Yeah. That guy looks like he is 30, but he is great on defense and can knock down the 3.

Yeah. I was watching it. I watched the Minnesota and the Wisconsin game waiting to see a team handle UM and both games, UM just completely shut them down on the defensive side.

We're apparently a basketball school now

Is Michigan for real? Haven't seen them play yet.

This question has two answers from me. I do think they are for real, in that they are a for sure threat to make the FF, and be a top 5/8ish team all season.

With that said, I don't think they are good enough to beat the likes of Gonzaga, Baylor, and I'll even throw in Villanova as well. And probably Iowa, based on what I've seen so far. Now I do think they can get better since their most important player IMO is thier FR big, so if he gets better over the season, that gap will decrease to me.

They have benefited some because of schedule, with only playing 2 true road games with one of them being at Nebraska, so they should be about where they are record wise. But they have looked great the last 3 games. I suspect they'll take on probably 5/6 losses in B1G play. I think Minnesota beats them next game out tbh.

They look really solid. I'm not really even counting last night as that was as much Wisconsin playing awful as Michigan good bit they've been very consistent. I think they're definitely a top 5 team at this point. During the broadcast last night Dakich said he'd take Zags, Baylor, Michigan and Iowa vs the field. I don't know if I'd go that far but it's not crazy either

You think they'll lose 5 or 6 of their remaining 13 games?

Their schedule has been real light so far. That said they definitely have the easiest schedule in the league. Only play Iowa and Illinois once ( both at home) , don't have to go to Rutgers either

I can see them losing @Minn, @Purdue, @Wisconsin, @OSU, @IU, home against Iowa, @MSU. My point being I don't think they are some juggernaut. Although, they are very good. I would think a 20-5 Michigan team would still be about top 10 or so.

Edit - throw the Illinois game in there as well.

I mean really there's no gimme games aside from Nebraska and even they will likely win a couple. I still think 4 or 5 losses wins the league personally

They became the 1st team CBB history to beat 3 ranked teams by 19+ points in 3 straight games and it easily could have won by way more, as they emptied the bench in all 3 -- and all 3 the teams cut into monster deficits.
They were beating NW by 30
They were beating Minnesota by 37
They were beating Wisconsin by 40

I keep turning on their games to see why and it has as much to do with defense, as anything else. They completely take teams out of their offensive sets. On offense, they have that freshman, but he is surrounded by a half dozen guys who can all knock down 3's or take you off the dribble.

It is looking like UM hit the lottery with Juwan Howard as a coaching hire. I heard on the broadcast last night, UM has the #1 recruiting class next year too.

Will be interesting to see how they fare the rest of the year. One thing they have going for them -- it seems they have a lot of depth and have a bunch of guys who can score.
I don't think they will lose 5 games though. With a lack of crowds, the whole home/road thing doesn't really matter as much this year. If they start allowing crowds, then I can see them dropping some road games.
Howard seems to have the whole team buying in to the attacking defense and they don't ease up on it. The 3 games I've watched have been the 3 against ranked teams and their aggressiveness and length with their defenders made life miserable.

I agree about the easy schedule so far, but let’s be real, road arenas aren’t what they used to be for road teams right now. I maybe see 3 losses for them right now.

Ohio state isn't beating Michigan.

Michigan loses 2 or 3

Yeah. It is wild when you watch a game and a guy hits a big shot and you hear the bench cheering for them. Takes away a huge advantage for home teams with no crowd noise
