Big Ten Basketball

Brad Underwoods job in jepardy?
No idea. The blowhard act isn’t working though and I’m not sure why he can’t figure it out. Teams confidence have gone off a cliff and a lot of it is his fault imo

That said he does have freshman guards and the team is quiet. No real leader that’s barking. Defense is suspect. Turnovers definitely a problem.

I’ve never been really impressed with him myself. He’s done nothing in the big dance

Big 10 seems like a mess right now. Maybe that means they do good in the tourney. Haha

Yeah they still got time to turn it around

But with the way of the portal rosters like this Illinois one will be hit or miss. Can be good but also crash and burn.

Because this team is basically portal guys and freshmen sprinkled in with some returners but those returners are all playing a much bigger role than accustomed to. So its a really inexperienced squad with a couple veterans coming into a new system.

Its tought to make it always work. And theyve had a pretty solid schedule to boot.

Highest recruit we’ve had in a bit but he’s probably been the 3rd best freshman guard all year

That said, we were probably gonna lose one anyways but Underwood better tweak his style now

Agree but how do you look so good early against elite teams and then you can’t score 60 points. That’s confidence and definitely could be more effort on D

No real leaders on the team. They all stand around looking for someone to take control.

They all seemed confused now. Before TShan would get his shot or they could move the ball. Meyer will chuck. But turnovers been an issue all year

Heard from a buddy in Champaign yesterday that apparently Skyy Clark and Matt Meyer got into a fight in the locker room a few weeks ago. Next game after that Skyy was out and then he had a shoulder issue.

Now he gone

C Hawk needs to figure out who he is. He’s not an underclassman any more and has to look to shoot. He gets too passive and disappears too many games. Mentally he’s a hot mess

This goes same for T Shan too

pathetic shooting today. 19/55, 3/20 from 3.

This Iowa team is so weird

How do you lose at home to Eastern Illinois and lose by 16 to Nebraska but win by 20 vs Iowa St and win by 11 at Rutgers

This is definitely one of those years with a lot of parity. Not really any super good teams.

Teams like Uconn and Purdue in a lot of years wouldnt be nearly as high ranked. Shit, head to head idk if this Purdue teams beats many purdue teams of the recent past. But they deserve their ranking.

Obviously a loss to a team like Eastern Illinois goes beyond parity, that was bad. But Iowa still has some really good players with Rebracca playing really well

Indiana is still fine right now with a quality NET and having a couple Q1 wins, but they are entering a bit of a danger zone.

They have really underachieved overall this year and at 10-5 and 1-3 in the BIG they are staring at a upcoming stretch of @PSU, vs Bucky @Illinois, vs MSU

They really wanna at least split that batch

Well, another L by 19

They're in some serious trouble right now. They have the X and UNC wins, but that's about it. Only 1 Q1 win and 3-6 in the first 3 quadrants. They can probably beat Wisconsin, but I think they lose those other two, and it'll be looking like 11-8 for them at that point. 2-6 in the B1G.

Yeah they are in a bad way.

I think they will make another push. But they are another classic example of a borderline(literally play in) tourney team being super highly regarded simply cause they return everyone....from an average team. Returning players is big. But you cant completely ignore what happened the whole season before.

Creighton(Kalky injury excuses it a bit) is another great example. Hell, UCLA last year and UNC this year. Those teams at least put up huge runs. But again, they returned rosters of teams that were bubble teams ultimately. Neither lived up to the billing.
