Big Ten Basketball

they were unhappy with the overall profile of the conference. the league is filled with private schools + land grant/specialty universities. When Maryland was in the ACC, Chapel Hill, Charlottesville and College Park were the only three flagship state schools in the conference. They weren't thrilled with that. They also CONSTANTLY whined how North Carolina-centric the league was. When Debbie Yow was the AD, she spent a lot of money on women's sports, aka sports that don't turn a profit. As a result, Maryland's athletic department was fucking broke. This coincided with the realignment mess in 2010/11. That's why Maryland jumped.

fwiw, the ACC is probably sitting pretty right now if they added Penn State along with Florida State in 1991. That was absolutely on the table, but the basketball retards didn't want to kill round robin ACC ball so PSU was never invited. Adding FSU/ Penn State in 1991 + Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Miami in 2003 probably saves the ACC. League needed more state schools, but nobody knew we were going down this road..so here we are.

From a strictly basketball perspective, nobody could have predicted the ACC to be in the shape it is today (which is not great, but not terrible).

Adding Syracuse, Louisville, ND, and Syracuse was almost assured to turn the ACC into the unquestioned top basketball league. Football a different story.

With those additions, losing MD was the last thing on their mind.

The fact you have to repeat the same 10 year old bit I think is proof for everyone to see that you have thankfully come to the realization that you were a dumbass and ran out of anything substantial to provide

Progress at least.

Lmao at you has been easy for a long time yes. It’s not our fault you are such a bleeder but it’s entertaining

I'm guessing it's going to take at least 21 wins for B1G teams to make the tournament, and that might not be enough. The B1G is down this year, and there won't be as many opportunities for quality wins. So while it's good that you only get Purdue and Illinois once from a record perspective, it's going to give you 2 less opportunities for quality wins. Specifically in the case of Nebraska, you could get to 22(!) wins without getting a Q1 win. You'll obviously get Q2 wins in there, but will something like 7-10 against Q1/Q2 teams be enough?

What’s your O/U on big 10 teams making the dance? 5-6? Obviously a lot of ball left.

I'd probably set the O/U at 6. Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, OSU and MSU all seem like they will make it. Then perhaps Nebraska and NW. IU is probably a long shot at this point. I don't think anybody else has much of a chance, unless they vastly outperform what they've been the first 8 weeks of the season.

Yeah I think 6 is about right. And I just don’t understand Indiana’s lack of success. We’ve got a freshman point guard from Indiana. I wish he would get more playing time but we’ve got a lot of depth obviously. Hope he doesn’t transfer because we’ve had some good guards as freshman leave the last few years.

Yeah, for the talent IU has they shouldn't be sitting around 100 in the NET. I don't think Woodson is a particularly good college coach. Not making it out of the R32 with their roster last year, was underachieving pretty badly.

For sure. I don’t expect Illinois and Indiana to be powerhouses with their current coaching staff but they should be tourney teams that can win a few games with all the talent in the area

Battle leaves the Gophers and instantly remembers how to not be a pile of shit on the court?

Christ hes raining tonight and for the year hes a very good 44/42 for 14 a game.

nobody gives a shit about basketball when it comes to a conference's health. Syracuse and Pitt are downgrades. Louisville is a wash. ND isn't even in the ACC.

Indiana is #90 on kenpom. single digit wins against Florida Gulf Coast, Army, Wright State, Louisville (lol) and Morehead State. gave up 87 points against Kennesaw.

they aren't a good team.
