If all it takes is a butt load of money being spent on a program to win championships then why is Texas never back? Why don't Boone Pickens (RIP) and Phil Knight have more to show for their money than the occasional bowl win? Jerry Jones is another guy who has proved that money won't buy a championship. The only guy I can think of off the top of my head who pulled it off was George Steinbrenner.

I remember both LSU and Ohio State claiming the "DBU" crown. Penn State was Linebacker U back in the day. I just don't see "one" school/coach/asst coach being "QBU" or the "QB Whisperer". A lot of hype around many but not the results. Riley would be "perceived" as the closest to any of those because of the Baker, Kyler, Jalen run. But even those three had some development before they arrived in Norman. Burrow got a lot of his from tOSU. Same with Russell Wilson via NC State and Wisconsin. Most recent FNL successful one I can remember staying at the same school was Mahomes...and that dude is in the NFL now.

I just don't see any place that is significantly better for QB development than OU...unless BV is going all in on "game manager" stuff or an academy triple option style. I don't think Lebby would have gone if that is the case.

And with the transfer portal I'm not sure any are going to sit around long enough anywhere unless they play from the get go.

Maybe he comes back to OU maybe he goes. I hate this NIL and early signing period bs. College football may be ruined forever. Regardless OU will be better in the long run with Venables. Stoops found Heupel in Juco and won an NC in his 2nd year. Brent has far more to work with. It's not like OU will be Texas bad.

The auction is pretty new and we haven’t seen it at this level. When Jackson State is getting the number one recruit in the country and Oklahoma’s STARTING QB is potentially going to leave for a payday then we’re at a new level.

I don’t have a problem with Texas paying their o-line 50k each but I don’t want to get to a point that in signing day teams are openly bidding for players (which yeah has been going on but this is going to be ridiculous). We need limits.

There are going to lives and families ruined because of this stuff. The stories to come are going to be sad.
