Caleb Williams

Who would have thought Lincoln Riley leaving Oklahoma would cause such a crazy ripple thru the program. 4 different 5 star recruits decommit. One 5 star QB transfers, the other 5 star QB enters the transfer portal.

That is A LOT of talent out the door. I do thank Lincoln Riley for leaving, as another recruit who decommitted from OU Derrick Moore, signed with Michigan, and he just won the MVP with 3 sacks in the Under Armour All-American game this weekend.

Think you are over playing this.. didn't you see how the team responded under Bob?!?! They beat a preseason top 5, runner up Pac12 championship team. LOL Moore is more likely to end up like Marcus Washington at Texas..former UA MVPs that suck in college

you mean like Tech STARTING qb leaving to ou after unintentionally bumping into the HC at the mall?
Yeah except now it's in the open and millions of dollars at stake. If you don't see the difference then I can't help you and if you don't think this is going to fundamentally change the game then you are considerably dumber than I imagined.

lol it's been going on.. Jimbo said it himself.. are you mad because now it's open?

BTW don't fret, Casey Thompson is going to right this ship for ou

I have no problem with kids leaving when the coach that recruited them (and they signed on with) is gone. If the coach leaves on his own, the player should be allowed to as well. If the school fires the coach, the player should also be allowed to leave. JMO.

If Williams bolts just for NIL money then college football is officially dead and we need to rethink the whole thing. If you are going to pay them that kind of money then you should be able to lock them into a 4-year deal and they can't shop. We also just need to let these kids go onto the NFL and have one and dones like basketball.

We basically have created a miniature NFL with:
- No Salary cap
- No team rights to a player
- No oversight

If the NFL worked this way owners like Jerry Jones would lock up all the A talent and teams like Chicago and Green Bay wouldn't have any kind of shot.
Rich coming from an Auburn fan ... you've been paying for players for decades. It's just out in the open now. Before you start typing, I am sure we have been too.

FWIW ... I saw an article the other day that said since 2010, 70% of blue chip QBs ended up playing at schools other than their first choice. QBs are going to shuffle every year from now on, especially when you get coaching changes.

FWIW2 ... if we get him, fine. But someone else will get Brock Vandagriff and he is a hell of a QB. Also, might put Gunner Stockton at risk. If we really are going after him, and I've heard from good sources that there is mutual interest, we are playing with fire.

So if CW goes to Georgia where does Arch end up? Georgia is set, Texas has the mullet, and Bama is set at a qb. Lsu maybe?
Well, we dont like to brag but..... Lets just say we know people that have his ear...

I agree with you. It is just crazy to see the amount of talent that has left because of Lincoln Riley.

Some would have left anyway. Just the normal "roster churn". And I agree with what that hairy dawg fan @WhosYourDawggy said. QBs are going to be more journeyman, carpetbaggers, etc. And not only the blue chips. Some 3* is going to a "lower level" school, develop out the kazoo and be "lured" by places with better limelight, more NIL money and/or the chance at the CFP.

Yeah.....especially seeing how ineffective they were in the last few.

If I'm a blue-chip, I'm not completely sold on LR being as "savant-ish" as previously thought.

I still think it comes down to UT, LSU, OleMiss and possibly Clemson

If you go by what is being said, Georgia must have the QB savant.

The only guy I can think of off the top of my head who pulled it off was George Steinbrenner.

And even he didn't get as many as he should have given the money he spent.

Maybe he comes back to OU maybe he goes. I hate this NIL and early signing period bs. College football may be ruined forever. Regardless OU will be better in the long run with Venables. Stoops found Heupel in Juco and won an NC in his 2nd year. Brent has far more to work with. It's not like OU will be Texas bad.

I don't really mind the NIL, but I hate the early signing period.
