Well, I said he's kind of right. His wording was odd, but he's correct.
Here is what he said:
Rumor has it, OOC games will not be a part of the CFP formula starting in 2026. Teams will be selected by in-conference record only.
The goal in that is to not punish teams for scheduling difficult OOC opponents.
I don't like the use of "
Rumor" and I am not sure what he means by "
CFP formula" but everything reported thus far is that what he says is true:
The P2 wants to have AQs to determine who gets into the CFP. The fight seems to be over who gets how many. Once you go to AQs, they it's fact that OOC won't matter as to who gets the AQs. Finish top 2 in the SEC and you are in. Finish top 3-6 and you are in play-in games.
One of the goals of the AQs is to make it so that there isn't a disincentive to play really good OOC schedules. The reason for that is obvious - the media partners want better games to drive money. The fans also want great games, not cupcakes.
I am not sure what "proof" you want, but if you research this and read a few articles, this is obviously what is in play.
Here is 1 of hundreds of articles:
Discord lingers over a proposed 16-team CFP granting Big Ten and SEC twice as many automatic qualifiers (4) as Big 12 and ACC (2). Here's a look inside the brewing discontent, political pressure and public backlash.
