Can the SEC get 6 bids to the CFP this season?

Pre-season NFL games average 2 million viewers.

That's easily in the Top 10 of CFB viewership week-to-week. That's just 32 NFL teams compared to 134 FBS teams.
Cmon man, compare that to normal NFL ratings

2024 Season: Averaged 17.5 million viewers per game

2/17.5 =0.114 of the viewership LOL

But then how will the $EC cheat and get their bye week in November to rest their players
Inb4 the committee stops counting road games or some other retarded shit “to not punish teams”

Bragging rights

How much tv revenue is made on NFL preseason games?
Not apples to apples comparison imho. The NFL doesn’t have “OOC” games per se. While they have divisions, they don’t get to choose which teams from the other divisions they play. Colleges do.

So you think teams and fans will care about a game that effectively doesn’t count on your record? They are going to go all out, risk injury, and go deep into the playbook for a MEANINGLESS game? Win or lose the committee won’t count it. Top programs are all judged on making the playoffs, not bragging rights from an exhibition game. Genuine questions here

Do you watch spring training games or preseason games at the same rate you watch regular season games, if at all?

Rumor has it, OOC games will not be a part of the CFP formula starting in 2026. Teams will be selected by in-conference record only.

The goal in that is to not punish teams for scheduling difficult OOC opponents.
There is no such rumor. Stop letting this obvious troll attempt derail this thread. Dunces.

I’ll answer the second question first. No I don’t.

Regarding the first question, I’ve got to say yes. But only because I don’t understand the mentality of those fans. They continue to tolerate their schools bringing in a bunch of cupcakes by filling stadiums and watching those crappy matchups. So one would think they’ll enjoy watching a better OOC game more than another cupcake….even if it doesn’t, as you say, count.

It's actually MORE than "rumor", dunce.

A proposal is that the Top 4 in the Big 10 and SEC (in-conference records) will get auto-bids.

"The long-discussed “4-4-2-2-1” format grants four automatic berths to each the Big Ten and SEC, two each to the ACC and Big 12, one to the highest-ranked Group of Six conference champion and, potentially, as many as three at-large bids in a 16-team field."

i.e. Therefore those getting auto-bids OOC games won't count for or against them.

There would be 3 'At-Large' entries into the CFP. Those slots will likely take OOC into consideration.

Probably should be 7 or 8 TBH.

Georgia
LSU
Texas
Alabama
Florida
Tennessee
Auburn
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Ole Miss

Any random year

Huh?

If we use the SEC Top 7 from 2024

1) tejas: CFP Win, Win, Loss
2) Georgia: CFP Loss
3) Tennessee: CFP Loss

4) Alabama: Loss to Michigan in Reliaquest Bowl to Michigan.
5) LSU: Win over Baylor in Texas Bowl.
6) South Carolina: Loss to Illinois in Citrus Bowl.
7) Texas A&M: Loss to USC in Las Vegas Bowl.

Looks more to me like the Big 10 should have had 7 teams in.

There you go using facts again. We can’t have that. We only use perception, innuendo, reputation, etc. Facts just clutter the system up.

Don't worry about the SEC. They got it all figured out and under control.
Never underestimate the SEC in what they can and will do. They've been doing such things for many decades.

For the first time I can recall, he's kind of right. OOC games will still count ... for seeding. But if they go to AQs, then OOC won't stop you from getting in. Clemson losing to UGA last year is a prime example. Without that loss, they would have at worst hosted a home game, might have had a bye. As it was, they won their conference and had to play an away game. Why would teams play tough OOC games if it affects their ability to get into the CFP? AQs take care of that and encourage good OOC schedules.

You didn’t offer any proof of his claim. You just repeated it.

He didn't need to. I already did.

12 teams will be auto qualifiers under a particular CFP proposal for expansion to 14 or 16 teams in 2026. Those 12 will be the Top 4, 4, 2, and 2, of their respective conference 'regular season' standings. Their OOC W/L won't matter.
Only in the 2 or 3 at-large spots will OOC come into play. Notre Dame is expected to get one of those 3 spots if they had a good season.

The Clemson/South Carolina, Florida St/Florida type games will continue for tv revenue and fans.

Your original post said: “Rumor has it, OOC games will not be a part of the CFP formula starting in 2026. Teams will be selected by in-conference record only.

The goal in that is to not punish teams for scheduling difficult OOC opponents.”

What about it, faggot?

What I stated is correct.

Well, I said he's kind of right. His wording was odd, but he's correct.

Here is what he said:

I don't like the use of "Rumor" and I am not sure what he means by "CFP formula" but everything reported thus far is that what he says is true:

The P2 wants to have AQs to determine who gets into the CFP. The fight seems to be over who gets how many. Once you go to AQs, they it's fact that OOC won't matter as to who gets the AQs. Finish top 2 in the SEC and you are in. Finish top 3-6 and you are in play-in games.

One of the goals of the AQs is to make it so that there isn't a disincentive to play really good OOC schedules. The reason for that is obvious - the media partners want better games to drive money. The fans also want great games, not cupcakes.

I am not sure what "proof" you want, but if you research this and read a few articles, this is obviously what is in play.

I used the term "Rumor" because it's not an absolute. It's proposed.

I used the term "Formula" because there are multiple different "Formulas" proposed.

Do any of you have a final product for the 2026 CFP?

OOC games will not be a part of the CFP formula starting in 2026. Teams will be selected by in-conference record only” is clearly a false statement as non AQ bids will be judged by their whole schedule

Stay mad buddy boy
