Using statistics made up of games with teams only one of them played makes zero sense. There is a reason UM was #1 and Nebraska was #2 going into the bowl games. It is because Colorado had a chance to beat them and Missouri should have beat them. There is also a reason why Tom Osborne announced his retirement when he did -- because he knew he'd get sympathy votes, which of course he did.
Truth be told -- I say they give the Nebraska fans the 1997 title, as it will almost assuredly be the last time they will have a chance at a national title in today's CFB landscape.
