CFP & NY6 Bowl Projections

Honestly that’s our only shot to get pressure on Stroud. Our DB’s are suspect and they’re going against what is probably the best WR corp in all of CFB. We are very deep and talented in the front 7.
OSU's defensive front 7 was charmin soft last year. It is why Utah, Oregon, Michigan all ran for like 250-300 yards on them. They will have some new faces this year, but last year was the first time in FOREVER, OSU simply didn't have a game changer on their defense. They have Nick Bosa, then they had Joey Bosa, then they had Chase Young, this was to go along with multiple NFL 1st round pick DB's each year. They didn't have any of it last year.

No team can match the firepower OSU has on offense. They have a national championship type offense. The defense is what killed them last year and until proven otherwise, I think it will do the same this year.

Since when does deserve to be there mean you had to have a close game. They went undefeated as you pointed out beat Stanford who beat Oregon. They beat Oklahoma in Norman and was like only the 4th team in that decade to do that.

Pretty sure he means that ND wasn’t actually as good as their record indicates.

Which they really weren’t. Too many close calls vs mediocre teams.

Also UOR beat a Barkley-led USC. USC had their backup QB in vs ND. And ND still struggled worse than the Ducks did. So, not sure the Stanford argument really works.

We weren't as good as our record. But when the only other option is taking a team that lost(at home) to a team that the other team beat and went undefeated, you don't really have an argument to take the team that lost. Not to mention we had the better resume. We were #1 in the CPU's and had a significant margin over Oregon.

Transitive property arguments aren’t very persuasive.

In the final strength of schedule rankings, ND was in the top 10 in the NCAA, Colley Matrix Kenneth Massey Strength of Schedule. Oregon wasn’t in any.

Throw in a preseason All American RB just for fun

The defense is going to be better this season IMO. Good enough to win a national championship? That I don't know but it will be good enough to win the B1G and get a shot.

I am still picking OSU to win the B1G, simply because they are vastly more talented than any other team in the B1G. That being said -- it will be interesting to see the defense, as they face ND early, who have maulers up front. If you see OSU gets pushed around against by a physical team -- i think you see a lot of the same from last year. (Absolutely beat up on the weak teams, struggle against any team who can play physical -- that doesn't bode well for OSU against the other elite programs)
