CFP Rankings

Yes. If the Big 12 Champ is left out for two G5 teams, it will be end of this playoff format. It won't happen.
Meh. The Big 12 doesn't have anything close to the pull the B1G and SEC do.

Do you think a 10-3 BYU, AZ State, Iowa State, K-State or 9-4 Colorado, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech West Virginia would finish high enough in the CFP ratings to be in the CFP? I don't see it.

First of all, I am rooting for the ISU winning the Big XII with an (11-2) record.
If ISU falters, I am rooting for BYU to win out and finish (12-1).
An Iowa State (10-2) vs. BYU (11-1) Championship Game would be perfect.

I am also rooting for Army to win out and finish (13-0). I've only rooted against Army 3 times in my life: when they played Alabama in the 1988 Sun Bowl and when they played Iowa State home and home in 2005 @ West Point and 2009 @ Ames.

Let's Go State! Beat Utah, K-State and BYU!
Go Army! Beat Notre Dame, Tulane and Navy!

We're not talking about the Big 12 compared to the Big Ten or SEC. If people think the P4 or the P2 are going to sit back and watch multiple G5 teams make it (and one of them getting a bye), they are in for a rude awakening. It would be the end of this format.

Oh I think it would definitely end the format if multiple G5 teams take spots from the B1G or SEC. I'm not sure they will even tolerate a 10-3 or 9-4 Big 12 winner taking a spot away from a 9-3 SEC or B1G team. I don't think the B1G are concerned for the welfare of the Big 12 or ACC anymore than they are the welfare of the G5s. End game is to have the two super conference playoff.

I don't think that's actually in the best interest of the P2. They want to control the CFP and the $$$ associated with it. But they want to include more fans and programs to promote more interest. They just want to pay the lesser brands less. Unless their hand is forced, I don't think the P2 will split away.

The Big 12 and ACC still draw way more interest and play much better football than the G5 (as a whole). If they start including a bunch of G5 teams with weak schedules, the system will change very quickly. I don't think they will go down that path. Right now the Big 12 and ACC are 1 bid leagues, maybe 2 in a unique season. I think the CFP is set up for 4 Big Ten teams and SEC teams to make it every year. 4 bids left for Big 12, ACC, G5 and ND.

I would agree with this except for one question. If "they just want to play lesser brands less" why do they schedule most lesser brands for OOC games? They could eliminate playing lesser brands completely if they didn't schedule them OOC.

Won't take 100 to 1 odds with fake money. That tells me you know this isn't a serious situation

Guess we'll know by Saturday at 11:00. Hope you're right.

Not play, pay.

They want the ACC and Big 12 teams to exist and remain a part of the system. They don't want to add them to the P2 because that would cut into their media payouts. The P2 want the Big 12 and ACC to continue to be part of the system as tier 2 participants.

I agree with your take. To me, it's an interesting middle land too. Personally, I love the current Big 8-SWC-Pac-East iteration of the Big XII! Literally every game is interesting to me. Iowa State is capable of BEATING or LOSING to every other team in the conference. For example, they are heading to SLC tomorrow as a -7 favorite, but I would not be shocked one bit if they lose that game to the team with plenty of players with two Pac-12 Championship rings who have struggled in the XII this year. It's just an even, fun conference to watch in football - home or away. On top of that, Big XII MBB is going to be Uber Great!

So, SEC and B1G will SEC and B1G - especially in Football.

Big XII and ACC will Big XII and ACC - especially in MBB.

Let's Go State! Beat the Utes!

Soooooo, like their favorite whore. We’ll call you when we need you.
