I don't think that's actually in the best interest of the P2. They want to control the CFP and the $$$ associated with it. But they want to include more fans and programs to promote more interest. They just want to pay the lesser brands less. Unless their hand is forced, I don't think the P2 will split away.
The Big 12 and ACC still draw way more interest and play much better football than the G5 (as a whole). If they start including a bunch of G5 teams with weak schedules, the system will change very quickly. I don't think they will go down that path. Right now the Big 12 and ACC are 1 bid leagues, maybe 2 in a unique season. I think the CFP is set up for 4 Big Ten teams and SEC teams to make it every year. 4 bids left for Big 12, ACC, G5 and ND.
