CFP Rankings

South Carolina has only played four teams that are currently ranked in the top 25. No one in the top 10 and every team has at least three losses.

Clemson has played a weak schedule, sure, but its not like S Car has faced a murderers row of opponents.
Yeah, they're not in the top ten/rankings and they have 3 losses because we beat they asses. Cause and effect, my man!

But honestly, I'm not at all upset that we missed Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia this year. Had enough of that noise.

Won't happen this week, but it will be interesting to see how the committee treats CCG losers and teams that didn't have to play in a CCG.

Especially SMU if they lose to Clemson

Which lost to BYU (10-2) at home. I'm sure that BYU will be ranked to low to be able to sling shot over SMU, but I hope it is at least discussed.

The committee has underrated BYU this year. They have a better resume than they've been given credit for. I don't see BYU getting in the CFP. If SMU doesn't make it, I think Alabama will get the last bid.

d'accord!
Bummer TOO.
I think BYU deserves to be in over Alabama TOO.

BYU vs. Alabama resume comparison is closer than a lot of people think. I'd probably lean towards Alabama but BYU has a case.

That said. I don't think it will be a close call by the committee. Alabama was ranked 13th and BYU was ranked 19th last week and I don't think anything happened last week to really change any minds.

That's one. How about Boise? They are similar to SMU with arguably a better loss.

While it might not eliminate teams, it will be interesting to see where the loser of Oregon/Penn State and Texas/Georgia are placed. Will they drop because they played the extra game against a good opponent? I know it would give Georgia three losses, but are you going to punish them for playing in the CCG?

How about the flip side. Will Notre Dame, Miami, Indiana, Ohio State, Bama, etc move up in the rankings/seeding by avoiding a 13th game against a quality opponent?

If Boise loses, I think they're out. They're already ranked 11th and I imagine they will fall a few spots if they lose at home to UNLV.

What happens to the losers of the Big Ten and SEC Championship Games will be interesting. If Oregon loses, I imagine they'll be #5. Everyone else is unclear IMO.

Truth. The committee hasn't really been consistent regarding resumes. Toward the top they'd favored of won/loss record regardless of opponent quality. In other places they've used resume and head to head. They'll probably move Penn State ahead of Ohio State because of a "1" in the loss column compared to a "2". As opposed to using H2H.

Lazy take.

I think it's fair to have Penn State ranked over Ohio State right now. I don't believe head to head trumps everything, however.

No doubt. So is SMU if they lose. Which means a three loss Clemson will be in....or will they? (See below) And everyone is whining about the possibility of having three loss teams in.

And will UNLV be the G5 rep? Or the Tulane/Army winner? Or both knocking one of the ACC or Big 12 champ? Isn't it the five highest ranked conference champs?

This could be some crazy shit. I love it.

Penn State will definitely be ahead of us. I wish half the SEC didn’t shit their pants so we coulda missed the playoff and day woulda definitely got fired.

The committee agrees with you. Recency will rule the day.

But if you put up Penn State's/Ohio State's resumes AND H2H results up in a blind comparison............

If we lost to Oregon in the B1G title game for loss #2 id agree but loss #2 came in a embarrassing performance at home to a bad 5 loss team

It was pretty bad. But rivalry games are weird. No way Ga Tech should have taken Georgia to 8 OTs or whatever.

Michigan is a already bad team who was missing their 2 best players and complete beat up on defense. There’s zero excuse no matter how anyone wants to try to spin it

Georgia Texh would probably beat this Michigan team by multiple scores.

'Twould be a fun ACC vs. B1G Bowl, if there is one that matches those two conferences?
