CFP Top 25 Guesses

Damn is @Across The Field really Boo Carrigan. Dude just referenced the close Boston College game as a reason why they slipped behind UGA and Michigan. Lmao.
It's really hard to ignore, not to mention squeaking by what's turned out to be a pedestrian Clemson team and only finally taking the lead vs Duke once an already-hobbled Riley Leonard left the game. Fortunately for them they have by far the easiest path left to the CFP so these initial rankings mean nothing.

If Bama and UGA win out the regular season and Bama wins in the SEC title game it gets real interesting. Would they leave a undefeated FSU or Washington out for a 1 loss UGA who's only loss was to a top 4 Bama team? You can sure bet the massively SEC friendly media would be crying for it.

Or does 1 loss Oregon who wins the Pac title over Washington get left out in favor of UGA? I could see that happening.

Bama winning out definitely has the chance to make shit real whacky that last weekend.
Those two scenarios with the SEC and Pac12 would be absurd. I am all for it.

As far as Ohio State goes, how many teams are breaking in a new QB, have the wins that the Buckeyes have, haven't allowed more than 17 points in any game, won at South Bend, won at Wisconsin, and haven't even come close to losing to teams like Boston College, Clemson, UCF, Houston, Arizona State, Stanford, and Texas Tech?

This is all very fair. We've had some ups and downs but only have had one truly close game (PSU got a TD with 29 seconds left to cut it to 8). We still have to get our RZ offense corrected and also lose the dropped passes. That said, I don't know that there is a truly generationally elite team this year. I'm fine with us at 1, but wouldn't have been pissed at 3. Of course, week 1 of these rankings mean nothing.

I have no dog in the fight, but OSU over UGA is bull shit.

Nah. Same old bs BCS computer model thinking. The AP and coaches poll have it right. On paper OSU is fine because of the wins but fails the eye test big time
So beating good teams closer is less important than dominating a bunch of shitty teams? Michigans SOS is shit right now. Michigan and Georgia are the same, need to actually beat someone good

Why ? Georgia schedule is soft so far. 0 wins vs Top 25 teams. OSU has significantly better wins right now. Georgia will prove it in next 3 weeks and I won’t be surprised if Georgia jumps OSU in next 3 weeks.

vs UT Martin FCS
Vs Ball State 2-6
vs South Carolina 2-6
vs UAB 2-6
@ Auburn 4-4
vs Kentucky 5-3
@ Vanderbilt 2-7
vs Florida 5-3

No idea who will be #1 but I DO know that based on recent history you DON’T wanna be #1 in this one

In the first one? Why? Pretty sure every team except Miss State and Tennessee that were #1 in the first poll made the playoffs

I think you'll find, come the end of the season, that both Penn State and Notre Dame are average teams that Ohio State barely beat. Ohio State looked like dog poo while beating Penn State.

Define average. Because they both will probably finish in the 15 and at the very least top 20.

Ohio States offense didn't look great against Penn State but their defense sure did. I think they only allowed 1 or 2 third down conversions and that came on Penn States last when Ohio State went prevent.

there isn't any true dominant teams this season.. It's wide open, I have no issues with tosu being #1, it being the first poll and all. The committee likes the ND and psu win.. but even if they finish 1 at the end of the year.. is team ranked #4 really gonna fear them? Think this is so open we have a #1 getting knocked off by whomever #4 is, this year

That may be true that those teams are overrated but for right now since the best wins for any undefeated team. I’m sure could change as Michigan and Georgia play better teams

Beating Oregon is better than either of those.

The odds are very good that both teams are 10-2 and top 10 in the final rankings.

Even if we win out, I think an unbeaten Georgia jumps us, and I wouldn't be against it. They'll have to beat Mizzou, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and likely Alabama in the SECCG. Overall body of work, I'd probably put them #1.

It would be close, but I might lean OSU as having the better body of work. ND, PSU and Michigan are likely 3 top 15 wins(Michigan probably a top 6 win at worse). Ole Miss and Bama/LSU are likely top 15, but it's no guarantee Tenn and Missouri will be. Both play UGA still and then play each other. Does an 8-4 Tenn finished ranked? Maybe, but they'll have no good wins in this scenario, so it's nothing guaranteed. Then looking at secondary wins, it's very similar. Kentucky/UF is basically Rutgers/MD 6/7 win teams likely. Wisconsin making the B1GCG would be nice for OSU especially if they get there at 9-3. If they're ranked going into that game, I can't see the committee dropping them out for losing, even if they get their destroyed(which they would)
