Coaching Carousel 2024 season

Dan Mullen goin back anywhere or he good in the booth iyo?
I thought he’d be a fit at WVU
You and I know exactly what they are going to do. It’ll be ether Jimbo or RichRod like the big boosters want and we’ll be right back to this in a few years…..

Guy was so close…

Close to being the worst coach in CFB history

Word is Barry Odom (worked with Baker before) is a candidate along with Penn State's OC Kotelnicki

I’d take Kotelnicki absolutely. I just feel like they go with one of those two I mentioned because of the big boosters.

This is going to have to be a quick hire, isn’t early signing day Wednesday?

And the portal opens soon too. Yeah we are going to lose a bunch but this change at the top was badly needed.

My gut tells me Jimbo would be a successful hire :noidea:

Full disclosure before I say this. I'll admit I've NEVER been a Jimbo fan so my view is real slanted. Not ragging you, just wondering. What makes you think he can get it done in West Virginia?

Here's my slanted view. He ran FSU into the ground after a generational college QB left because FSU wouldn't ante up the resources for (fill in the blank). So he heads to A&M. A place that literally lacks for nothing and was given it all. He couldn't get it done with all the resources in the world.

That is all fair to say about him ^

I said gut because I can't point to any concrete evidence that he would be good at WVU. I like that he is from West Virginia and he has won a NC. The pressure and competition should be less at WVU than at a TAMU and even FSU. I also think bringing in a household name helps with recruiting initially more than getting some up-and-comer from the G5. I know he flamed out at TAMU but I bet his name still carries weight in the CFB world. Could be completely wrong but Jimbo at WVU would have me excited to see what he can do.

I could see the recruiting bump. Not many coaches have a natty in their back pocket like he does.

No doubt the competition would be less than he faced at A&M. But his talent was as good as the other SEC teams....at least on paper. (It may not really have been as great as it looked.) I think he was at the top end of ACC talent at FSU as well.

Talent wise I would think he'll be on the same plane as the rest of the Big 12. No one team can dominate the others in that conference. Resources are too equal for any one school to IMO. Question is can he outcoach when talent if very equal?

I would see a gastroenterologist

I kid I kid, I'm skeptical because he had a ton more resources while being located in 2 of the 3 biggest talent rich states and still it didn't work. No doubt he had FSU going but that seemed to drop off while he never really got Aggie humming to be fair. Hes not going to have that in Morgantown in comparison. He'll basically be starting from scratch when we lose everybody to the portal. Can he handle this? That's my concerns.

Truth or is Freeman leveraging for a raise?

I know Jimbo personally through a friend and he is a really nice guy but stuck in his ways and doesn’t evolve. That’s the trap Saban avoided and that coaches like Jimbo and Malzahn fell into.

Jimbo is rich so he should just enjoy life.

Not head jobs but my Red Raider son in law told me Texas Tech is losing both coordinators. @Airraidtech will be happy about one of them for sure.

Wasn't this guy a hot NFL head coaching name just a couple years ago?

He is the name the media would scream as proof of racism because he didn’t get a HC job. I think we’ve proven it was Andy Reid in KC at this point.

That was UCLA’s problem.
They let him call plays.

Edit.
I know. It worked against Nebraska

UCLA's offense was bad, but I thought Garbers was actually a decent QB even with the shitty OL. They couldn't run at all. Also had issues with penalties. The offense actually played a lot better in the second half of the season than the first IMO. They had a bad first year with a brutal schedule, but considering how it started it's looking a lot better than it did 2 months ago. Too bad they burned Garbers' redshirt and he can't return another year, that ended up being a pretty big fuckup.
