Coaching Carousel

you have someone else in mind?

Not really. The mid major bench was pretty shallow this year.

If you were looking internally Sean Sutton may have been solid choice. He was the defacto head coach when we went on our 03-05 run and has been clean for over a decade now. It's a real what might have been thought for us but he deserves another shot.

But if you should have made a run at Archie Miller. I don't know if you get him but he walked into a toxic situation at Indiana and knows his stuff so it would have been a splash hire.

son at Tech tells me
Mark Adams is our next head coach -

he was the defensive mastermind
with coach Beard -

guns up!!
If he's the one I'm thinking of, he ain't no spring chicken. But he earned his stripes in Texas. Clarendon, Howard, West Texas State, etc. I'm pretty sure he has connections to Texas high schools and junior colleges. He'll need to keep/get some assistants to help nationally.

you'd pick Sutton over Adams?
c'mon man -

yep - he's prob in his early 60s -

and agree with the assts -
with a solid staff, he'll do fine -
and the players are already in support -

Is it bad that San Jose State made a better hire than the Gophers did?

He is the one I was thinking about. Didn't know he was a Brownfield guy though. Except for a year at Arkansas-Little Rock with Beard, all his experience has been in Texas....and a lot of it West Texas/Panhandle.

Mark Adams New Head Coach at Texas Tech

Looks like my guys are looking for a new coach...and I'm happy as hell about that.

He's going to join Beard and the rusty cows as an assistant.

Looks like Ed Conroy(Liam Robbins uncle) is heading to Vandy. I wonder if Liam will follow?

Sean Miller fired at Arizona

It will be really interesting to see what Arizona does now. They have almost every returning for next year but this may change that

It's about time.

If they hadn't sat on their asses for so long, they'd have had a shot at one of the many good candidates this year.

Yeah, I'm not sure who they will pursue honestly. Damon Stoudemire is an ex-Wildcat who was known as a great recruiter as an assistant and has been the HC at Pacific. He hasn't done anything great at Pacific but I think he will be in the conversation.

What an off-season. UNC, IU, Texas, Arizona and Minnesota all with coaching changes.

If current trends follow, I expect either Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, or Gilbert Arenas to get the job

Stoudamire has had zero top 100 teams @ Pacific. His best team has finished around #115. He would be a pretty mediocre hire for Arizona.

This job isn't as desirable with NCAA sanctions looming. I'm hearing Tommy Loyd from Gonzaga is their #1 choice and he has zero HC experience.

Bout fucking time.

Now do Will Wade. And stop sweeping Bill Self's stuff under the rug and pretending nothing ever happened
