Crazy, bitch ass weather

It's starting to snow here in south coast RI, where they're forecasting around 2" and then turning to rain around 2 am and thru-out the day tomorrow.

Temps tomorrow (Sun) are supposed to get near 50 and then back down to 32 and below next week with a possible Nor'Easter storm towards the end of next week. :rolleyes2:

Big One... yes. We've had a couple smaller Nor'Easter "wind/rain events", but they (NWS and TWC) say this upcoming one would likely be a bigger Nor'Easter "snow event" if it happens.

We shall see... It's New England weather, after all! :noidea:

I generally view bigger nor'easters as a wind/tidal surge event. They're basically a cold core tropical storm/hurricane.

They're that too, but sometimes the winter Nor'Easters here can look like a blizzard, only coming from the northeast...

I always thought the nor'easters were just happening in the northeast, but as I understand it, it happens along the eastern seaboard too... down as far as the Carolinas.

Mother Nature keeps it interesting... :nod:

I believe this one was built around 1900. Had to rebuild part of it after a fire destroyed much of the interior in 1925. Definitely an oldie. LOTS of old homes here still standing from the mid 1600s.

I might try to work a half-day tomorrow before thos shit is supposed to start….Wednesday is a hard pass at this point.

We’ll get freezing rain/sleet/ice before 4-8 inches of snow.

Storm will pass south of me. Cold air has made the big push. 96 hours before we see 20 again.
 
So I’m sitting here at Urban Air Park. They have the “weather” channel on. When did they start naming winter storms?

I haven’t watched it in years.

The NWS has a website now. Plus the old go to meteorologist from Omaha has Facebook page where he nails it more often than not.

The Weather Channel started naming them in 2012/2013 for added tv ratings. i.e. Drama

Neither the National Weather Service (NWS) nor the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recognize the Weather Channels naming of winter storms.
 
Freezing rain/sleet/ice came first.

2 hrs into the event this morning and the roads were already slick as goose shit.

Work called off work before I could even warm up the vehicle.

Pussies.
