drove back home from NJ over the weekend and noticed some white stringy stuff on the side of my truck. Originally thought it was a big ass scratch but then I could see it was raised on the paint...

tried washing it off, no luck.

I tried using an adhesive remover on the plastic fenders and it came off but it looked funny...but I am worried about using it on the metal.

Any suggestions?

I used the adhesive remover and it worked like a charm. I do need to put a new coat of wax on her, but everything looks good.

Goo Gone?

I had tinting put on the all the windows of Panzerwagon. On the driver and passenger front windows it was a real light tint. And of course not the windshield.

I got pulled over by some prick cop who gave me a ticket for having tinted front windows. While he was ticketing me numerous cars with tinted front windows drove by.

Anyway, I decided that if they can pull me over for something like that out of the blue I better remove the tinting on those two windows because occasionally I’ve been out for dinner and I’ve had a drink or two, not 10 or 12. But I don’t need some cop, pulling me over for tinted windows and then asking me why I smell like beer.

So, the day after I was ticketed, I stripped the tinting off the two front windows. But it left this horrible glue residue. I’m still struggling to get that off. I’ve used steel wool with Goo Gone and that does the trick but it’s really tough to get around the edges.

I have my windows tinted as well...if I get a ticket for that I will gladly pay the fine and keep it on. I like it

Like I said though they pick and choose when they want to pull you over, and I have no desire to be pulled over at the whim of some cop when I’m doing nothing else wrong. The fine was $135.

Contact brake cleaner is safe for paint and plastic. You can either spray it directly onto the sticky stuff or apply to a rag. It will cut through anything. I used that a lot when I used to travel on motorcycles because my touring bike would get a lot of crap on the plastic lowers from time to time.

Once you remove the sticky stuff and make sure to wash with soap and water and re-wax. The contact brake cleaner will remove any wax from the paint.

I always heard not to use windex on tinted windows because of the ammonia in it.

Wonder if pure ammonia will take it off.

Everyone has some of that in the garage.

they have windex without ammonia, but you are correct...you shouldn't use ammonia on tint

My car gets washed every time it rains. Other than that I vacuum the inside every now and then and clean the inside windshield at stop lights.

has anyone here used an eraser wheel on their car?

I removed this from the rear fenders of my Tacoma and now there is left over adhesive residue. The fender is not metal, so I am worried about using this on it. (this is not a pic of my truck...I pulled it from Reddit)
