Direct Pay to Players

Geographic divisions, in all sports, are from the era of train travel. I would say it still affects college sports the most since kids are "supposed" to be in class unless they are in a game on the weekend, but I was just having this conversation about pro sports and how stupid NFL divisions are.
To a certain extent yes (AFC and NFC East are stupid) but they're still largely geographically based. The difference is the budget for travel that would be required. For Northwestern to take a bus to Bloomington to play Indiana is one thing; to have them traveling for a schedule that's something like Arizona State, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Miami, Memphis, and Colorado every year? Just couldn't happen outside of the big schools.

…in all honesty as a Rocket fan I'd be more excited about them winning a national title in "division 2" then pissing around in the Motel 6 bowl. The idea of them being in a playoff is exciting.
As a lowly Miner fan, I agree 100%.
