Friendly reminder to clean your AC drip lines on a regular basis. Neighbor went on vacation for a week and came back to a soaked garage due to the algae buildup.
Typically they'll be capped and have a float switch to shut down the unit if it backs uo, but a previous owner installed a humidifier system with its own drop line running into an open tee to the ACs line, so the back up just came out over the top of it. I helped him vacuum out the sludge blocking it, disconnected the line at the rubber hose clamp connection and used compressed air to help clean out a little more, then poured a cup of vinegar down the line to help kill anymore.
Told him to pour vinegar down each time he changed filters and to vacuum the line at least once a year, typically during the summer when it's having a lot of condensation with warm temps to help algae grow.
