Do any of you non Christians get offended when someone wishes you a Merry Christmas?

I think it is pretty shitty to mock what people believe in like this, to be honest.

we have freedom of religion in this country for a reason.

Sadly, the age of respect in 'Merica is long dead.

Yeah, but we also have the freedom to mock religion in this country.

Merry Christmas!

Jesus loves all of you!

Honestly, most of the people who really want to make a big deal about how offended they are being told Merry Christmas are just looking for their fifteen minutes of fame.

Most people, whether Christian or not, usually just say "you too" and go about their business.

Yep... Never understood the butt hurt. Most people saying it usually mean it in a positive and good way. Just trying to be nice.

Sign of the times... :beer2:

That’s a good wrap up point for me on this. Almost all of the time people respond to a good natured holiday wish in like kind and move on.

What irks me are the pains in the asses on both sides of the coin who have to bite back at the well wishes. Every one of them has their view of the world challenged at that moment. And they take it out on the person giving a good thing, when it’s not that one persons fault at all. They address nothing positively in this moment, just reinforce the nonsense of it all.

It’s the disgruntled emotional sprayers on each side that make this an ugly debate every year.

If it's Christmas Eve/Day, that's fine. If you start saying it on December 1st, you're a tool

I often wonder if this shit even really happens in real life. I mean, you see and hear about it all over the internet, social media, etc. but I can’t recall ever seeing (or hearing about it) in the real world. Not even from someone being polite in their correcting, for lack of a better word, of another person of their beliefs/feelings, let alone a person being an ass and/or bitch about it.

I can be anecdotal and point out I’ve seen it multiple times standing in line at a store. Even once or twice at work where “Happy Holidays” is also the go to way to say it.

But that doesn’t quantify the massive amount that social media inflates it to. I won’t argue the overemphasis of social media....except to point out that these things often catch fire on social media as people can connect their personnel experience to this.

I guess. As said, I’ve never seen it. But that just anecdotal as well. The closet I’ve ever come to seeing was at work once where HR said we should use Happy Holidays to be more inclusive. And even then it was just a suggestion.
