Do FSU & Clemson Have A Landing Spot?

No, we are saying the same thing…almost. Yes, they were alteady in the “country club.” But, A&M, Mizzou, Texas and Oklahoma WEREN’T original “country club” members though so that reasoning doesn’t hold water imho.
ATM and Mizzou were valuable at the time because markets are what mattered in 2012. The SEC in Texas was very valuable. And the TX OU move was totally a value move. All 4 were top value moves at the time, no matter was happened since.

Greg Swaim is an idiot. He's wrong 90% of the time he opens his mouth. The other 10% he's eating.
you know he's in hospice right? let him dream while he still can
Even if this is true ... and I can't imagine the addition of those two teams adding the $120 million per year needed, nor the other teams giving it all to the two teams, why would the B12 want two teams that are (1) actively trying to destroy their conference, and (2) would jump in a second to move to the P2?
FSU and Clemson... will both be taking reductions compared to what the ACC payout will be handing out.. Big12 new deal which kicks next year is less than what the ACC is going to be making..

Also good luck telling the original orphan 8 that FSU and Clemson will come if you give them your share of the media rights.

I've mentioned it several times in posts here. I am sorry for him, but I am not going to cut him slack for chasing clicks with nonsense.

I'm not arguing any of that. What I'm saying is they weren't original members of the conference so that justification for some still being in really doesn't hold water IMHO.

This is becoming an interesting question because the B1G does not seem interested:

The SEC does not seem interested:

There are even rumors that FSU and Clemson have had talks with the Big 12 which if true is pretty shocking. I think what we are seeing is that both the B1G and SEC realize that at their current size, it is going to be really hard to get additional money to pay new members and that there are only so many time slots available to air games.

Now all this could be smoke an mirrors so that it doesn't seem like they are tampering but when you weigh the pros and cons does additional expansion make sense? I honestly don't think it does.
BiG not really interested in small "metro" markets.

Lmaaaaaaaaaaao that's a real thing? I can think of a very long list of programs the B1G would take before USF.
Bro I’m serious when I say, USF fans think they are some sort of sleeping Giant on X. It is absurdly hilarious.

Really too early. My guess is UNC is the top target in SEC land, not FSU and Clemson, and some folks with the latter two schools need to cope with the implications of that. But really we don't know shit and this could all be moot in a week, a year, or whatever. Speculation sucks.

I will say Scheer is a lot more interesting to have heard this from than Swaim. Swaim would repeat the dumbest shit you've ever heard of in your life if he had an ounce of access.
I honestly think it’s all speculation with FSU and Clem trying to gauge SEC and B1Gs interest. I don’t think they’d ever join for less than what the P2 paid. And that’s not exactly practical.

UNC is interesting because while there are rumors they are choice 1 for both the P2, they rule the roost in the ACC.

Swaim’s an idiot

Here's a very well connected journalist with way better sources than the Twitteriots saying FSU and Clemson do not have landing spots in the P2. The most interesting aspect of this is how many said it's because they wouldn't be a good partner. Going after the conference commissioner and exposing the agreements turns out to not be a good idea perhaps.

Awesome, love to hear from well connected journalists!

Annnnd you lost me

Good thing it's up to ESPN / FOX to make that call :martini:

You don't think he is more connected than a bunch of rando Twitter guys with 64 followers? LOL

There is no doubt that if you get clear of the GOR, the P2 is going to have some interest. What I think the article stands for is that the P2 has no desire to get involved until you get clear of the ACC. Moreover, you do have problems - the SEC probably doesn't want two more teams that will be losses for many of its existing members, and the B1G does in fact care about AAU status. If I had to guess, I would think you end up in a P2 at some point. But this idea that it's all cleared and they are just waiting for you never made sense to me. The last thing they want to to do is get caught up in litigation.

Brett McMurphy??? No, I don't. He's never been very credible.

That's ridiculous. He has 303K followers on Twitter, and he's been involved in writing about sports for 40+ years, including CBSSports, Yahoo, AOL, and ESPN. You might disagree with his opinions - I can respect that - but the idea he doesn't have good sources is absurd, especially compared to rando Twitter guys with a couple hundred followers.

True and would be a more accurate article title than
"Big Ten, SEC unlikely to add Florida State if it leaves ACC & ACC survives, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Big Ten & SEC don’t want FSU because adding FSU doesn’t make financial sense, no desire to expand & “they’ve been a disruptive partner,” ""SOURCE"" said (out of 20 other comments lol)"

But I get it. Go ahead and get those clicks 💰
