Do FSU & Clemson Have A Landing Spot?

Interesting if there's any smoke to this because FSU / Clemson proposed this a year ago and was laughed out the room
But now there's interest on both sides? .... :think:

I wouldn't give FSU an extra jack squat right now
 
Per ESPN: Clemson and Florida State are interested in the ACC splitting the money with the most of it going towards teams that do better in football and basketball along with bringing in higher TV ratings.

It would be a bandaid at best because unequal revenue share isn't going to lead to conference loyalty and will only increase friction among teams.

Well, at least it will only be friction until 2030.
The proposal includes shortening the GOR to 2030 which is conveniently the same time the BIG & BIG-12 review their TV contracts

Yup.

Requiring new schools to go through a 5 or 6 year period in order to become fully vested is fine because schools know that they will eventually get a full equal share after becoming fully vested (Maryland, Rutgers, Oregon, Washington)...

but to enact a permanent unequal revenue sharing policy is eventually going to cause quite a bit of bad blood within the conference.

Why would any ACC school that doesn't have a realistic chance of a P2 invite go for cutting the GoR?

Or in other words - how is any of this advantageous to the ACC and the rest of the teams? How do the remaining ACC teams benefit from this?

This outcome favors only FSU and Clemson. There is no upside for the rest, considering the ACC seems on top with respect to GOR and Exit Fee. There is no reason to cave and give these two teams everything they want and screw themselves over in the process.

It puts the other teams at a disadvantage. Which is why those schools will be voting "No" to modify GOR and exit fee".

yep. we saw what happened to the Big 12 when they played favoritism. only real difference is that FSU/Clemson aren't anywhere near as valuable as OU/Texas.

According to my interpretation, the ACC & ESPN have already agreed to terms. The ACC will then need to determine how that gets distributed to each school per this new agreement.

read some more tweets from Ross.. so they will be making more matchups between ND, Miami, FSU and Clemson.. guessing all are getting some good pay bumps.

I'm happy that they have come to an agreement (at least look like it).. Wouldn't want to see the ACC fall apart like the PAC did.. although I gotta laugh at the Big12 fans on twitter.. they were so sure that they were gonna poach that conference

I'll need to read into it a little more later on. But yes, I am also glad it appears the league isn't falling apart.

To be real the league wasn’t going to fall apart until 2036 when the GOR was up or the amount of years that would have to be bought out hits a reasonable number.

This isn’t an indication that schools aren’t going to leave at some point because I’m positive that FSU and Clemson aren’t going to sign anything that extends its GOR past 2036.

I’m also sure there will be language in the ESPN contract that protects the network in case schools do leave.

What you want to see is the ACC getting more money in the extension because their current deal is very lacking.

yeah but this beats the talk of GOR breaking, court battles.. obviously ESPN has an investment into the ACC channel.. so it's good to know that although things may change..it looks more post 10 years than the 2 years of doom and gloom talk
