Do FSU & Clemson Have A Landing Spot?

To be real the league wasn’t going to fall apart until 2036 when the GOR was up or the amount of years that would have to be bought out hits a reasonable number.

This isn’t an indication that schools aren’t going to leave at some point because I’m positive that FSU and Clemson aren’t going to sign anything that extends its GOR past 2036.

I’m also sure there will be language in the ESPN contract that protects the network in case schools do leave.

What you want to see is the ACC getting more money in the extension because their current deal is very lacking.
There current deal is lacking because their football sucks and their fans suck. People always talk like the ACC could sign an SEC level deal and somehow they got suckered in negotiations. Maybe they didn't get an optimal deal, but at the end of the day the ACC's problem is that their teams aren't very good at football, and their fans are not very good fans. Just look at the TV numbers. It's all there.

The only reason the GOR talk has settled down is the attorney's are realizing that you can't break them and the buyout is too large to consider it. At the end of the day FSU has known this and I suspect that most of their airing of grievances was negotiating tactics to get a better deal until they can leave.

Problem is they are considered so toxic I'm not sure anyone has interest anymore.
The main reason it has slowed down is because the SEC and the B1G told them there is no room in the Inn. If you don't have anywhere to go, you can't leave. Everyone saw that the conferences are already too big. Adding two more really good teams doesn't make any sense for either conference.

I wouldn't say their fans aren't good fans. There's just not a lot of them given the relatively small alumni bases most of the schools deal with.

There is room at the Inn because if Notre Dame or UNC became available both conference would make room.

And if they each went to opposite conferences I think both the SEC and B1G would add a second for balance. At that point Clemson and FSU look a lot better.

Save your argument about UNC because we just have to agree to disagree (but I’m right and you’re wrong).

It's not like I am calling them bad people. If you look at the capacities of stadiums, which are already smaller than the P2, they just don't follow CFB as the P2 do. That's all I am saying. The size of their alumni bases don't help, as you point out.

After this past year, not a chance the SEC/B1G would expand. Not until the next contract for both, at the earliest.

ND of course, and I used to think no on UNC but not would be open to it but only because they aren't good. They might get in because they would be a W for most SEC schools. That said, you are wrong and I am right! "stick-my-tounge-out" emoji.

The news today means FSU and Clemson are in the ACC for at least 5-6 years, maybe 10.

I said all along if those dipshits would concentrate on working with the ACC on getting merit pay, they could make bank. For example, look at the $20 million ND made in the CFP. The ACC gets a ton of money from the CFP as a conference. FSU and Clemson could negotiate a deal where the CFP per game money goes to the teams that earns it. Or at least a lot of it. The idea of having ND play FSU/Miami/Clemson every year, or more often than they do now would be good for revenue if ESPN works with them.

FSU's problem is they suck.

Everything is really a moot point because the cost for anyone to leave the ACC is absurdly ridiculously that no one can afford it. Notre Dame is locked in through 2036 by their own choice and the deal is working for them so they will resist any change to independence for as long as they can.

People can talk all they want but follow the money and it says no. The closer we get to 2036 the more real the talk will get and honestly I think the B1G and SEC want as much time to absorb the new teams as possible.

The SEC is in a good spot but we are already seeing the beginning of the end to some great rivalries and not just in football. In basketball there are only 4 teams in league play that you play home and home the rest are one game only. Baseball already has a cutoff for who makes the conference tournament so that list is just going to get longer.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the B1G starts having a cutoff for their basketball tournament so they don’t end up playing extra games.

The SEC will find its grove by the end of next year but the B1G is going to struggle constantly with their numbers and travel. I suspect their Olympic sports will start struggling to recruit because a softball player, track, soccer, ect. is going to think real hard before signing with USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington and the travel when they can easily find schools that have a much lighter schedule.

In addition I need to add that I am absolutely right and you are wrong.

The highlighted sentences are in direct contradiction to one another. If you follow the money, it means NO on UNC. They were terrible this year - you have to scroll way down. UNC would have had the worst TV Viewership in the SEC, but far. Worse than Vandy.

Bro.. so if it wasn't for Prime in Boulder...

Big12 would only have one team in the top 30?? (KSU at 30)

ACC has 4 schools in the top 30

The ACC has 1 in the top 20 and didn't lose a soul. We know you hate that the B12 survived but calm your tits.

just saying.. without prime.. Big12 would only have one in the top30. Trying to figure out which program would do better if they were good.. I can't think of any.

Again, ACC lost no one and could only place one guy in the top 20, barely. Maybe your consternation should be directed toward them??

well we know that they can fix that.. the reason why they will force matchups between ND, Clemson, FSU and Miami every season.. that should get them in the top 20.. Hell GaTech was..21??

Can they fix it? And GT was in the top 25 because of the weak zero game vs FSU in Ireland and the Black Friday monster vs Georgia.

Sorry we survived Tsip

And Colorado will drop like a turd in a punch bowl once Prime’s shine dulls or he leaves. There isn’t one school in the Big 12 that is “marquee” level..including Colorado. What they are is a group of solid teams that are “even”.

They won’t pull must see rating levels unless a team goes on an undefeated run with a couple of good OOC wins included in that run. And such is unlikely to happen because of how even they are.

Just the way it is.

yeah that was just my point...

funny looking back to a year ago and some really thought the Big12 was going to raid the ACC.. it may happen but not in the near future

I don’t see an advantage for “raiding” in either direction. Both just need to maximize what they can and live with it.

I love a conference race where all teams are close. Parity may eliminate the chance of another team in the CFP but so what. There will be more rotating of the top teams and doormats. Less perpetual top teams and bottom teams imo. Who’d of thought Utah and Okie Lite would be the bottom feeders this past season?
