Does Nebraska matter in the B1G?

Unfortunate for us and I believe the CFB world, but fair point.

Not sure I put too much weight in this because... that's nothing new. Most of the good recruits always came from the south and Nebraska has always been in "the middle of nowhere", but they made it work for decades. Substitute this by playing off the first one, since no recruits have witnessed greatness from Nebraska, the walk on program has deteriorated as well as the FCS and G5s stepping broadening - the luster that used to exist in Nebraska has died down. Kids used to WANT to come here. Kids used to pass up scholarship offers at these G5s and FCSs before, but not now.

Fair point, though historically, Nebraskas biggest recruiting grounds have been Texas and Florida to my knowledge. I could be wrong though.

Another unfortunate, but fair point. Hope this changes.

The difference in the past, when Nebraska was a national power and where they are now is........the internet, the amount of national football camps, the amount of money everyone spends on recruiting now.

Recruits don't slip thru the cracks in today's CFB. And unfortunately for Nebraska, going up against the truly elite programs today, they don't have much to sway recruits. The big rivalry game is now.....Wisconsin? Or Iowa? If it is academics a recruit wants -- they are at the bottom of the B1G.

It is just a completely different time in CFB. If you don't have a fertile recruiting base in state, you are fighting a losing battle.

you know UT came to Nebraska about forming a Big 12 channel, but they said no and were exploring doing a Husker network for it's tier 3 rights.. UT then went to aggy about forming a LoneStar network, and they too turned them down. Texas had no idea that ESPN was gonna offer 300 mil for it..

LHN wouldn't have happened in the SEC because LHN was the practice dummy for the SEC network. Texas didn't go against anyone's wishes.. had they really been able to call the shots, there would be no LHN it would be a Big 12 network.

What did Dodds offer Nebraska?

Ahhh, I didn't know that.
Yeah the longhorn fans don't like to talk about that part, or the t-shirt fans likely don't know. But it was I guess about 2008 when the talks were happening. And Texas did their usual "we are Texas" bullshit and A&M said no thanks. We then commissioned a report about brand recognition of A&M outside of Texas. With Big12 not being able to get regular national coverage it was hurting A&M being known nationally which also hurt our recruiting. The suggestion was to try to get to the SEC with their CBS contract to put national games on TV every week. At the time A&M only had guaranteed THX game on national TV, even though we were playing highly ranked opponents like OU and Nebraska. So we went were the money and exposure were better, and the bonus of getting away from "but we're Texas".

See Texas and be quiet

I'll try to find some of the articles about it, but I want to say that the Texas and A&M deal had some sort of "but you pay all the costs and we will take a majority of the revenue" kicker in there as well. Probably tried to get NE to fall for that crap too.

I am sure you're correct. That was probably the beginning of the end for the Huskers in the big 12. Sooners grabbed Texas' tail and rode along. Now they lose to Kansas St. and Iowa St. on the per usual.

A coach who acts like a moron that is paid millions of dollars. Your AD should go with the coach. Hire Klieman from kstate. You'd win the big 12 every year. He probably wouldn't be sexy enough for the donors though. You say Nebraska and Texas are the same except Texas has hope, but you fail to see the big picture or what's behind the curtain. Texas loses to Kansas, Maryland, Kansas St, Iowa St. And it is no longer shocking. An OU fan tells me Texas is Mike Tyson and Nebraska doesn't know how to make a fist. Big 12 is garbage, and I look forward to playing OU next season. That will be one of the easier games. whorns down.
How cute, a Nebraska fan talking like it's the mid-90s, and that a game against a perpetual CFP participant will be one of their easier games. LOL.

Which makes UT's futility even more perplexing as they are the flagship university in one of the most populous and fertile states.

Fixed for accuracy.
You forgot the part on how Switzer got the boys jobs at car dealerships that they never showed up for. He left as the NCAA was closing in - no?
I’m sure he would have thrived today since the guys can be paid from outside sources.

He was done. OU fans seem to have forgotten the history of Switzer. Next season. We'll target Bookie.

WTF are you talking about. Want to discuss substantive football, I'm here. Babble like a little girl, don't have time.
Your entire post was off base and had nothing to do with reality..... it was given the proper response.... you spit out jibberish and babble that was factually wrong..... i gave you a bunch of factually correct babble in return.

Educate yourself before you make up random bs.
