They've been completely irrelevant since joining the Big Ten and haven't appeared in the conference championship game since 2012 when they got embarrassed by Wisconsin.

You'd think being in the weaker of the two B1G divisions, the mighty historic traditional Nebraska Cornhuskers would be almost guaranteed to be in the B1G championship game each year, but instead they've fallen below Wisconsin, Iowa, and even Purdue. Of course I think we all thought Nebraska would find themselves in the Big12 conference championship year after year when they were paired in the same division as Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri.

SAVE SCOTT FROST!

Nebraska needs to go back to their bread and butter to compete again (i.e. 1990s style Nebraska football).

They don't have any states adjacent to them with major football talent. They will have difficulty recruiting talent to compete as a normal football team.

Nebraska in the 1990s didn't have high recruiting classes but rather focused on physicality and player development which brought them Ws. Obviously there will be a limit with those teams but still they would likely get back to winning 9-10 games, would be competitive in weaker BIG West, and could use the wins and exposure to start recruiting actual talent.

Somebody got triggered in the other tread.

so they need to re introduce the prop 40/48 rule back in place? And to bring back Russian PEDs from the Cold War era?

A team I look forward my favorite team to play every season!

Barry stole that methodology. Now Nebraska has to play catch up.

True, Wisconsin does a great job at being the modern Nebraska. Wisconsin throws the ball but they do have a focus on the ground game. Still Nebraska could catch up.

You must remember "Farm kids" are extinct. No one is out there in Nebraska man powering farming, it's all machines.

The farm kid description was mostly myth. They had machines back then as well. Nebraska had one of the best weight training and physical development programs.

Interesting... I am not totally surprised.

They can be competitive in the West, but the days of dominating it's conference like the 80's and 90's.. are done. Kids can be seen on TV anywhere now, and kids can now get immediate playing time in G5/FCS schools rather than joining the walk on program. Game has changed.

Frost will be alright. He has some good classes in there now. Another on the way.
