DOWN GOES BAMA!

Not trying to take anything away from TN, but I wouldn't use this game as a measuring stick for your offense. This is not the Saban/Bama defenses of years past. Any good offense is going to put up the numbers you guys did
The whole season has been a measuring stick for Tennessees offense. Doing what they did against Alabama was just MORE confirmation.

And I disagree with the any good offense will do the same comment. Bama has talent on D, pretending they don't is laughable. Every team Alabama has played up to Tennessee, bamas D has held them below their offensive averages.

Fair enough. I’ve had a few days since the game and I should clarify my point though, talent is not the issue. Bama has loads of talent on defense. It was the scheme that hurt Alabama. Heupel and company schooled Saban and Golding.

Just look at Hyatt. Safety couldn’t cover him and Bama did nothing to adjust, Tennessee kept taking advantage of that. Granted no one may have been able to cover him but Bama didn’t even try.

Don’t get me wrong though, Bama has a good defense but they didn’t adjust against the best offense in the country and it cost them. Tennessee just had a better scheme and executed better.

This is where a rematch (a do-over SEC style) would favor Alabama.

Rematches typically favor the team that lost the first time since they can look at film, see how they got beat, and make adjustments.

The team that won the first time is likely to try to do what worked the first time.

I agree. There’s a lot of examples that prove your point. Most recent being Bama-UGA

The team that lost the first game wins rematches over 50% of the time.

In this case, since it was so close and @ Tennessee, you'd have to heavily favor Bama on a neutral field rematch.

Via Touchdown Alabama, the most revered coach in college football has never lost a rematch game at the college level in the same season. That includes both his time as the head coach at Alabama, as well as during his tenure with LSU.

that was last years stat, he lost one to Georgia in the title game. That was his first in same year rematch games.

And the scores flipped egregiously.

17 pts Bama
15 pts Georgia

Over a 30 pt swing.

That's why I say Bama should be "heavily favored" in a rematch if there is one.

The biggest rematch points swing I can remember is UGA-Auburn in 2017

Auburn won 40-17 @Auburn
UGA won 28-7 in the SECCG

Florida and FSU in 1996 rematched for National Title within a little over a month and score was widely different.

Another take from an Alabama fan that actually is giving credit to Tennessee and not making excuses:
