A guy like her bf, a gym guy, gets sick, it can be devastating. When I had my transplant I was in there w 2 other guys around my age. One guy was getting his 2nd transplant 8 years after his first one. Former Army Ranger. Was no problem for him. Crushed it. This other guy gave up from the get. Laid in bed high on pain killers all day every day as me and this other guy were in rehab 3 times a day, doing laps around the floor etc.

Turmoil brings out the best in some and flattens others. No saying how someone is going to deal w it.

Glad you’re back to coaching @RobBase (c) . See, I knew you enjoyed it more than you let on. Also, great story about your new “friend”. Be sure to tell us what your wife thinks about her after you tell her the story! ;)

Like anybody else, he got sick. He had a real interesting story. He was on his 2nd transplant because his first transplanted heart was defective - in real serious situations, like the patient is going to die, but they’ve found a match (that’s a whole other story) but the matching heart has a defect - they give the patient the choice to accept the heart. Maybe the donor had AIDS,was HIV positive, had Cancer etc..I don’t know all the exact ins and outs of it - but he had to take this defective heart or die. So he did. And you would never know it seeing him. Huge black dude. Armed security guard for some major corporation. Total bad ass. He would bang his wife in the public bathroom when she visited lol. So he was on his second and got his about a week before I got mine.
