I am still perfectly ok with EVs. I will buy one eventually.
Maybe we all will... one day. The infrastructure isn't there. It takes too long to charge and most people cannot safely access charging ports at home, or can find a high enough number of the things on the road. Once those problems are solved AND the price drops substantially, I think it will be the standard powertrain.
I was never likely to buy a Tesla because I like having a pick up and the CyberTruck is terrible.
Then you'd have a Ford F-150 Lightning. Except they suck and you probably like quality. The CyberTruck's a gimmick, a toy for the rich. Whenever I see one up close, I marvel at how anyone who wants a pickup would ever consider it one. The thing has no cargo capacity.
I don't think the product they put out is bad though...they just have a shitty CEO.
you have to understand that this isn't a hate on EVs, it's a hate on Tesla and Elon Musk
I imagine it's quite similar to conservatives who hated on Trump, but still voted for the guy. Whether you like him isn't really important, if the product is good. Maybe Chrysler would still exist if more people liked Lee Iacocca.
and it isn't because "he's a buddy of Trump" it's because the dude has fucking lost his mind in the last few years.
Same thing. He's aligned himself from carefree, green bro-dude to Trump buddy. He's no more "fucking lost his mind" than Tulsi Gabbard, Marco Rubio or Joe Rogan. Regular people can choose to worship celebrities and billionaires if they want, it doesn't affect the intrinsic value of the products they market though. (Except Mark Cuban- the Mavericks suck.)
it's comparable to Kanye West. He was a great musician and people loved his shit...then he flew off the handle and no one fucks with him. Musk is doing that.
Only if you think an idiot savant who has been highly successful in multiple high tech industries is equivalent to an obviously mentally ill entertainer who is too rich & famous for anyone to tell him to seek help. Kanye has been on a downward spiral since his mom died, and we're looking at about Stage 5 in a 16 stage process where it ends in his suicide. Or possibly death-by-misadventure. Either way, Kanye will produce nothing meaningful on his way out, unless you really like tabloid headlines. Musk will produce things that continue to benefit humanity and the United States, even if you don't like the guy.
