It is dead the moment it hits the ground, per the rule. I posted it. If it is clearly catchable then it is IFR. If it then hits the ground it is deemed intentional and the ump has to call it dead. If it is caught and the runner tags and wants to try to advance, that's the only way it can be doubled off but the runner has to be insanely stupid to try to advance with the ball within 90 feet of him.Can’t be a double play from the catch and the subsequent force. The force has been taken away via the IFR. But it can be a double play if a sleeping base runner tries to advance after the catch or the intentional non catch.
It’s not a dead ball until time is called.
