EPL 2021/2022

Tied game.

CRACKING START!!!
The pace and flow of this game is fierce. Nice to see clinical football compared to what I have watched from Bayern Munich for weeks now.

Brentford again. No fluke. Eriksen signing was a risk but has totally paid off. They are in Premier League next season now for sure. They have actually caught Southampton now. Leeds looks safe with Burnley loss too. Us Bundesliga fans were laughing when Wout Weghorst left Wolfsburg for Burnley. We said why? To play in The Championhip next year

offsides on the sterling score
VAR picked that up. Was offsides by the rule. Rule should be feet not body. Rules are rules even though a terrible rule.

It was a beautiful weekend for Spurs. Conte has them flying. Funny how Man U was a afraid of Conte's authoritarian style. But it has worked whereever he has been recently.

There should never be any doubt about Conte. He's had success at every stop. Peak ManU that they supposedly considered Conte and shied away. The reality of the situation is probably that their top brass did not feel comfortable with a strong, demanding manager. They much prefer a manager they can boss around.

The biggest questions with Conte and Spurs remain. Namely, how will Spurs be able to back him and meet his demands in the summer? If they can manage to do it, then i could actually see Conte sticking around for a few years. His contract only lasts till the end of next season, but why leave after he's put in all the hard yards to build the club back into something important? Unless they are so good that they win the title next season. Then he can ride off into the sunset as the greatest manager ever...and spurs will build him a statue for his 1 full season there haha.

If they're unable to meet his demands, he will walk when his contract runs out.

Next season now likely Spurs in UCL. They have still have Liverpool and Arsenal to play. Dicey. But next year he would get to coach UCL, but that did not stop him from leaving Inter. So yes, he will demand a bigger salary and a deeper roster.

Speaking of Spurs: why couldn't you guys just keep Lo Celso and Foyth? Those two destroyed Bayern Munich in first leg versus Villarreal. Foyth looked like a modern day Philip Lahm in that game.

Funny you ask that. Foyth we had for a while but he was young and never got in the side. Showed flashes of potential but also at times was a real liability. He only managed 16 total appearances with us in 2 years. We were happy to loan him out and even happier when they bought him.

Lo Celso is another frustrating one. He looked so good his first few months that we rushed to exercise his option to buy. Then he was flat out terrible for us but somehow very good for Argentina. In his roughly 2 full seasons with Spurs (55 appearances), he managed a grand total of 1 goal and 3 assists in league play. I hope he does well there and they buy him outright.

I guess we could use either of them next year for squad depth, but neither would fit into our starting 11. For comparison, Kulusevski already has 3 goals and 6 assists for Spurs.

Kind of a nothing burger in the EPL schedule this weekend.

Spurs lead off the weekend with an important match vs Brighton in the early game. Win that and pressure is really on Arsenal to keep up.

The Gooners have a somewhat difficult game @Southampton, but i "think" its one they will find a way to win...i have said that about their previous 2 games as well tho.

No other matches that really peak my interest until midweek next week. Then the fun begins.

Should West Ham going forward focus on Europa instead of EPL? 2 wins away from a possible UCL slot. They get Frankfurt next instead of the tougher Leipzig.

Both Spurs and Arsenal messed up. Good weekend for Man U now.

P.S. Zach Steffen cannot be USA number 1. Gaff machine.

I think you could argue that they have been focused on Europa for a little while now.

Typical Spurs. Have a chance to create some serious pressure and instead lay an easter turd. Thankfully, the gooners were just as bad. ManU in the mix, but both they and Arsenal have some very difficult games coming up.

Spurs still in the drivers seat, but they can't afford any more performances like saturday.

Big turd. Zero shots on goal for Spurs. Crazy since it was Brighton. As you say the Gooners, 3 straight losses. Not quite ready for prime time yet. Man U? Seems only way they can win is a Ronaldo hat trick.

P.S. Sad news for Ronaldo. Just had twins and boy twin died today. Very sad news. Probably won't see him in lineup for a bit and rightfully so. Devastating news.

I saw his announcement on twitter. Tragic stuff for sure.

Upcoming matches:
ManU: @liverpool, @arsenal, chelsea
Arsenal: @chelsea, manU, @west ham (and then May 12th @Spurs)
Spurs: @brentford, leicester, @liverpool (and then May 12th vs Arsenal)

If spurs keep their composure and get 5-6 points out of their upcoming 3 games, they could have 4th secure prior to the NLD.

I agree. Man U vs Liverpool today. Good game for a weekday. About to get lunch and turn the game on. I see Man U dropping points here. I am assuming will not be available today.
