EPL 2022/2023

I missed the part about the Porro signing. Good. I heard on Sirius yesterday Chelsea spent $300 million by far the most in a January Transfer window ever. La Liga griping today about FFP with Chelsea.

Chelsea has spent more over these 2 transfer windows than any euro league outside of EPL combined did. Nearly triple man united's spending and they spent the second most.

They are doing this through long contracts and spreading out he expenditures over several years. It will bite them in the ass when 1/2 the players don't work out and they're stuck with huge accounting issues and salaries they can't move on.

Already getting bitten by some of their signings. Aubameyang wtf. Koulibaly blah. What to do with Kai Havertz still.

Chelsea have historically been terrible at identifying talent. But, they've gotten away with it by taking a shotgun approach and simply outspending everyone. Seems they aren't deviating from that approach under new ownership.

Driving to Safeway and heard Meola compare Chelsea to Spurs on Sirius:

Chelsea $610 million spent in 8 months, Spurs $600 million approximately in 12 Transfer Windows. That is the outragious part of Chelsea. Good news for every other EPL team, is if Chelsea doesn't make UCL, then these purchases problematic for the books. Not yet, but could be. Chelsea has a lot work to do to make up points to get to UCL.

Let's not forget, they still have Lakaku on their books too.

Yeah, they have been historically bad at recruitment. Sometimes they find real gems (Kante), but more times than not they spend big for players of the quality they could have had at less than half the price they paid. It hasn't affected them badly on the pitch during the last 2 owners because they simply would go out and spend more the next window. They consistently miss on $50-100m players. When Spurs miss on players that expensive, it sets them back for years.

ManU is the other club notorious for spending big for flops.

Chelsea really haven't recruited/signed that well since Mourinho's first stint ( he brought in guys like Drogba and Cech). And despite popular belief, he was not the one to get rid of Salah and DeBuyne during his 2nd stint. Kante was a stud at Leicester and has really been the only signing in the last decade that has paid off,

I'm going to really enjoy when they're stuck with all these long term contracts for expensive players they can't sell off.

Is Mason Greenwood going back to Man U? Cleared of all charges this week.

I think he ends up playing outside of the country. Hard for me to imagine any club in England wanting to touch him right now.

LOL! Fulham 0 Chelsea 0.

Boehly in the crowd writhing lol. Potter hanging by a thread now already? Potch next? Zidane?

Arsenal lose Everton lol. The stumble begins?

Klopp sounds in recent interviews he is itching to leave. 7 years at Mainz, 7 years at Dortmund, 7 years at Liverpool. I don't see how Liverpool makes UCL this year. It is getting dire.

Jesse Marsch getting sacked tomorrow? Can't be losing to relegation rival Forest as they did. Dominate possession 70-30 but can't score. Navas effect?

Pep Special. Big win for Spurs. I want to thank Pep for sending Cancelo to Bayern. Finally someone who makes great crosses.

If Spurs could play every team the way we play City, we could actually be pretty good.
Great stuff for Kane. Becomes Spurs all time goal scorer. Mentioned it before to some friends, but he's Spurs' Dirk. Hopefully he retires in a Spurs shirt. Deserves a statue outside the new stadium.

Lol. Will they get away with it this time? Probably. Next article will it be Chelsea.
They'll bribe the appropriate people, just like the last time.
