EPL 2023/2024

So the shot I saw of the ref looking at the screen just showed him looking at a "still" of the point of contact. Is that all he's allowed to look at?

I'm still catching up on new rules from the past few years. I kind of checked out on the EPL when NBC started putting games like ManU v Liverpool behind the peacock paywall.

Where is VAR? Oh wait….it is the EPL.

Apparently there was a misunderstanding, the booth signaled that it’s good to go (the goal counts) and the ref took it as offsides no goal.

It’s beyond ridiculous and if I was Klopp I’d go scorched earth to make a point that this should NEVER happen again. Literally call actual people out.

I was referring to the 1st red card. He walked over to to the screen and It was just a still shot of when Jones foot made contact with Bissouma's shin.

My question is, Was that all he was allowed to see or was he able to see Jones' foot rolling over the ball before that point as well?

It should never have happened again in week 1 when Wolverhampton got screwed in Man U game….but it keeps happening. Need to sack everyone involved in VAR and start from scratch.

It was a total fuck up by the refs. Side judge raised the offsides flag early, VAR officials failed to investigate it. Genuinely fucked over Liverpool with that one.

Ugly afternoon

Not sure about that first red but the second was justified and Jota is a moron.

GG all you spur fans

I think the first red was justified by the letter of the law. Came in high, studs up, and made violent contact with Bissouma. I don't think it was intentional, but straight reds rarely are. It was reckless and on a different day could have caused serious injury.

Jota's first yellow was pretty soft, but he is a dipshit for the 2nd yellow.

Liverpool played great with 10 and looked every bit as dangerous as they did at full strength. With 9, all you can do is sit back and play for the draw, which they nearly achieved. Spurs got lucky, but sometimes you need a bit of luck.

Agree on all counts

Fwiw Klopp is still a whiny pussy

Great defense, United!

Early saturday game, chance to go top of the league against one of the bottom sides away. Table was set for a typical Spursy fart and fall down moment this past weekend but they were able to eek out the 3 points.

I'm not going to make any bold claims or predictions, but these are the games in the past that Spurs would trip up in. So far this season, they're showing a different level of focus and toughness.

Top of the Table now. City really miss Rodri. More than De Bruyne.

Gotta love it, for now anyhow.

Spurs are a few key injuries from being a mid table team. Need to stay lucky at least until the january window.

Well they look more like a team now. They got the coach right so far. I always wonder why teams go for retread legends like Conte and Morinho and Tuchel etc. It is better to find the next Guardiola Zidane etc. Brighton seems to have found that, same with Leverkusen, even Arteta now although it took time, now Spurs. Man U? Maybe not. The Ajax connection doesn’t seem that great now after that run to UCL semis a few years ago. Who out of that Ten Hag Ajax team has done anything? No one.

Don't know how long it'll last, but top of the league looks good.
Son on fire. Wonder how Kane would have looked with this system? Spurs lead EPL in shots and 3rd in possession.

Have to imagine Kane would look good because he looks good in any system. But the guys we have right now are working out perfectly.

The system requires the front 3 to run a lot (#9 less than the wingers), and I'm not sure Kane is much of a run around and press guy. He likes to hang around the half way line on defense and be a target man on a transition attack. Sonny is a perfect front guy for Ange because he's a threat to get in behind the defense, so the center backs are forced to respect that and back off a bit...which in turn opens up spaces between the lines for the system to work.

Spurs win again. 12 minutes if injury time though. Crystal Palace always a tricky opponent. Guaranteed first still after this weekemd

Nervy end but another 3 points for Spurs. Great way to start the weekend!
I like Friday games for my team. Get it over with and have a relaxing weekend.

Porro lost concentration and it cost them a clean sheet and made for a much more nervous end than it should have been. Spurs were coasting till then. Oh well, lesson learned and it didn't cost them anything.
