Expansion is back... back again.....

It won't happen and it doesn't make any Financial sense but adding Oklahoma State and Kansas to SEC solves some of our rivalry problems for end of year games with new Big12 teams (Mizzou-Kansas, OU-Okie State) and gives the SEC another Basketball Blueblood to take on Kansas. Okie State has also been pretty good in all-sports and I feel like they are that one team in the Big12 that definitely deserves an invite to B1G or SEC.

When Texas and Oklahoma leave, who seriously brings in viewership out of the Big12? What brand or brands can carry that conference?

At least with USC/UCLA leaving the PAC, the PAC still has plenty of markets and brands to carry it on.

To answer your question:

BYU, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas Basketball, UCF, Cincinnati, West Virginia, and Iowa State all have decent followings. I don't have much confidence in the other Big12 teams carrying much of a following though. Baylor has had a lot of success lately but long-term they have not shown they are a solid program. Throughout the first 15 years or so of the Big12, they were the Vanderbilt of the Big12. Houston brings nothing. TCU had that nice run under Patterson but has been meh since he left. Texas Tech isn't that great of a football team but they are not bad either. They always seem to be just average but they do have a great atmosphere and fan following.

Kansas State has done well in the past but not sure it is enough to drive a brand.

BYU, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia are the three biggest brands IMO. Those three will probably drive the league. You also have Baylor, UCF, and Cincinnati all being up right now to help as well which helps but I am not sure they can stay at their current level long-term.

Kansas State, Iowa State, and Texas Tech all have dedicated but small fanbases. They fill their games, have great atmosphere, etc. However, they are NOT big brands as you said. They are decent brands but not big.

With what they have, they will be an alright league but definitely behind the Big 3 right now (ACC, B1G, SEC). I think we are heading towards a Power 3, a mid-tier 2, and then a G5. (Big12 and Pac12, if it survives are not G5 but they are not in Power2 either).

This is a win-win for Oregon. Either we go to the B1G and get all that money, added to the money the school already gets, and can compete annually with the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, USC, and UCLA, all schools we beat, or we stay in the PAC, get majority of the money and routinely stay a top 12 team and going to the CFP becomes an automatic annual thing.

I'm sitting back and enjoying this now.
Y'all get wiped anytime you play a team with offensive/defensive lines

That’s not how it will work. If Oregon demands a higher payout than what the other schools are getting and they can get equal pay in the Big 12 then they will leave.

Utah, AZ and ASU at least will be in the Big 12 at that point and the PAC will fold.

Don’t sign a long term GOR and the PAC folds.

Demand more money and the PAC folds.

You’ve got 3 options:

1. Join the B1G if invited (won’t happen)

2. Play fair ball with other PAC schools and keep PAC together

3. End up in the Big 12 when the PAC folds.

Did you ask an Alabama fan for permission to post before posting this?

1. Bedlam is not the SEC’s problem
2. Mizzou vs Kansas is not the SEC’s problem
3. Chances of the SEC taking either is zero.

The huge markets of Cal, Stanford, Wazzu & Utah!

Memphis (Get into TN fast growing population)
USF (rival game in FL with UCF + Tampa )
ECU (get into NC)
Temple (Philly market)
To take it to 20! Balance that puppy out lil bit.

No on USF & Temple. Meh on ECU.

Boise St & Memphis ftw.

Read my post again lol. I had disclaimers that address all of your points.

Regarding #2, Mizzou has no true rival in SEC, that move would fix this issue.

Fuck missouri... they knew what they were getting when they signed up. Tennessee can be their rival if it makes you feel better.

The area they are in does not matter if nobody actually cares about the team.
Yet UCLA is leaving for the B1G.

Enjoy those 'rapid' fans.

USC is still a national brand.

UCLA is "meh", basketball at times but yea the football team is largely disregarded.
Laugh if you want, but B1G should have taken Arizona.

More fans in football than UCLA (even with just 1 win last year, we do much better with filling out stadium), and we have the highest attendance over the past 5 years in basketball.
