I'm still putting money on Tucker being fired within 5 years. He got extremely lucky last year with Walker + that schedule. That defense was one of the worst in football. Lots of major red flags are being overlooked because they beat Michigan and won 10+ games. Giving a coach $9.5 million dollars after that single season is a huge gamble, and really starts to draw attention when you're not good.
Yes -- I couldn't agree more with you, just like Cincinnati has passed up Notre Dame. At least you can say they are a P5 school now.
How so? They missed playing Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota in the West (the top 3 west teams) and played Michigan and Penn State at home. Their bowl game was against a team who's top two QB's sat out. Other than playing a 7-5 Miami team, that's about as easy of a schedule as you can craft up.Guess we'll find out. I'd say he did pretty good considering the dumpster fire he took over, and the overall lack of talent on the roster. Money isn't anything these days. If you think you have the guy you pay him. Also, their schedule was pretty difficult last year.
Cincy has never lost to Notre Dame in my whole adult life. Hell -- Cincy hasn't lost to ND in 120 years. Then Cincy smacks ND around last year as a G5, so yes, Cincy is better than ND.MSU's been better than Michigan my whole adult life. Big difference between that and one singular season.
MSU's biggest accomplishment since 2015 has been a split 3-3 record with Michigan and a bowl game win against a team missing any serviceable QB. And one of those was the covid year. Which I tend to ignore in most stat lines anyway. In the last 5/6 years Michigan has most certainly been the better team.MSU's been better than Michigan my whole adult life. The main difference between 2020 MSU and 2021 MSU was Kenneth Walker. Walker opened up the pass game, and single handedly turned their 6/7 win season into an 11 win season. MSU struck gold on a transfer prospect no teams wanted.

Maybe ND can play them in another 120 years and try to prove they are worthy.
They played a tough SOS compared to other P5 teams only because they played Michigan and Ohio State. The rest is about as easy as you can get it in the B10 east. There's absolutely a huge difference between playing @wisconsin and Iowa vs. playing @purdue and Nebraska at home. MSU has at least 3 losses last year with Michigan's schedule. We played at Wisconsin, at Nebraska, at MSU and at Penn State. Michigan probably wins that MSU game at home (though there's some questionable stuff that happened in that game that I'll just leave here -- should have been tied).Overall they played a top 25 SOS. From a power rating standpoint not much difference in playing Wisconsin and Minnesota or Purdue and Nebraska. They did get lucky playing NW. But overall, their schedule wasn't easy. I don't give a shit about the bowl game.

No arguing the dantonio era. That era perfectly coincided with the RR/Hoke debacle at Michigan. It was perfect timing.Yeah, but that's leaving out the decade prior, of which I was still an adult.

And then to top it all off, their bowl game is scheduled against probably the easiest P5 team in a major bowl game and the player that got them there, sits out (along with his backup). A lot of things fell into MSU's lap last year that made Tucker's second season feel a lot better than it was. MSU ended up with the literal last ranked pass defense in CFB.
But playing at Wisconsin is a whole heck of a lot different than playing Nebraska in East Lansing.I don't know you give them a road game at Wisconsin instead of at Purdue and they're probably 11-1. Wisconsin wasn't very good last year, and would have been a much better matchup for MSU.
Like I said, I don't care about the bowl game.
But playing at Wisconsin is a whole heck of a lot different than playing Nebraska in East Lansing.
But I'd also argue that there's no arguing that in the last 5/6 years Michigan has been the better team. The record is about split between the two schools, but Michigan has had far better performance on the field and in total record.
This is super weird, I've never seen timing like this. Rumors on the recruiting sites were going wild last night saying he was in the directory. And then it started being reported he was joining the team. Now Michigan confirms it this morning. A grad transfer two weeks before the start of the regular season is bizarre.
Eyabi Anoma was a top 5 player in the 2018 class, Michigan was fighting for him (we had a few other of his teammates in the class) and he ended up going to Alabama. He got kicked off Alabama for violation of team rules, then went to Houston where he got kicked off for....violation of team rules and then he joined some FCS team. And now, apparently, he's going to join Michigan literal days before the start of the season. Just a super weird series of events.
“That’s basically a wash” said no one ever. I’d play @purdue in perpetuity over ever playing at wisconsin again.Michigan played at Wisconsin instead of at Purdue. That's basically a wash. Michigan played NW and Nebraska. MSU played NW and Nebraska. That's about as even of a cross-over as you can get.
And yeah, Michigan has been better the last 5/6 year's because that's not taking into account 2015 or prior. But in the MT era it's basically even and MSU has won H2H twice. Michigan finally got over the OSU hump, which gives them an edge these last two years, slightly.

If Alabama threw him out and didn’t just give him an ice cream cone then this kid is bad news.
Do you know how to write in cursive?MSU's been better than Michigan my whole adult life. Big difference between that and one singular season.
Absurd opinion about playing at Wisconsin aside, you’re still Skipping the reality that MSU got lucky and avoided crossover games against any of the teams that finished top 3 in the west and lost to one of the others and almost lost to Nebraska at home. And in the east schedule they played two of the top teams at home, also in extremely close games. At almost every point in their schedule they lucked out. The one game they didn’t luck out in was playing at Ohio state, where they got rightfully demolished.Well, yeah so would, unless that's the year where Wisconsin's QB can't complete a forward pass. They were practically even last year. Both 9-4(6-3). Both lost to ND OOC. Both beat Iowa. Purdue had the harder cross-over games with playing MSU and OSU as opposed to PSU and Michigan. Wisconsin did beat Purdue, but like I said from a matchup perspective if I was MSU I would have much rather played Wisconsin than Purdue.
