I'm in the market for a range finder. They don't give those away.

I have been in the market for one of those for years now...just haven't pulled the trigger on one

I keep going back to the batteries on them...there is a USB charged one I like, but it is a lesser known brand.

I use The Grint. It works just fine for me.

Are the hunting versions any cheaper? Lots of time specialized equipment gets a boost in price. You should be able to pick up one for $140 or so that is +/- 2 yards.
