True but could Syracuse have brought that New York Market as well as Rutgers? Syracuse is a decent tv generator (definitely not a top 25 one but a lot better than Rutgers).
Sure Syracuse is 3-4 hours North of NYC but it is still in the same state. Tennessee has pull in Nashville and Memphis for example but UTK is no where near them. (Rutgers isn't even in the state of New York but granted it is in the NYC TV region).
I am thinking the B1G really should have picked up Syracuse instead of Rutgers. It was a better fit and I think it may have been enough to get them into NYC even though Syracuse really isn't that close to NYC.
However, I would like to hear from someone in the B1G or knew more about the time? I thought culturally that Pittsburgh and Syracuse were better fits for the B1G but I can understand why they left Pitt behind because they already had Penn State and Pitt just doesn't have a big following.
