It's remarkable that there are people who think a new QB is gonna come in suddenly things will be different. The defense is still a disaster, the OL has a ways to go (there's talent but Jones is the only player returning from 2022 at the same position), and the playcalling was a disaster. Fields looked competent to start - I think he was 9/10 for like 98 yards to begin the game. Then they got ultra conservative, assumingly to keep the GB offense off the field since they clearly were doing whatever they wanted. Unfortunately, GB is a very well run franchise with coaching consistency and elite development.

Fields' INT was bad, as were several of his other decisions. His TD was a beautiful ball and he had several other ones just like it. One designed run play the entire game though? Fucking hell. That said, GB's defense is obviously very solid, has been for years, and Fields finished with a higher QB rating this week than guys named Mahomes, Burrow, Watson, Dak, Daniel Jones, and several others.

The didn't need designed running plays. Fields was on the run the entire game as it was.

I saw a twitter post that chronicled each of his dropbacks yesterday. I have no idea what game you were watching, but it wasn't Chicago where he had "WRs running wide open". I'm guessing you saw a few plays where he missed an open guy (it happened) but my god, the pocket was already collapsing around him most of the time and probably 75% of the time GB wasn't rushing more than 4.

Dominated in the trenches doesn't even begin to tell the story, nor does "the playcalling left much to be desired". There were 0 adjustments made at halftime. Pick any QB in the NFL and put them back there yesterday and the Bears are still losing by 10+ at least. Caleb Williams or Drake Maye aren't coming in here and winning with this team, that much is for sure.

That was one of my biggest takeaways from the game. The Packers DL owned the Bears OL AND the Packers OL owned the Bears DL. Fields was under constant pressure and Love barely had to move.

Many fans just ball watch and don't realize how much of a massive impact winning the trenches has on every play and ultimately the outcome of every game. Same shit happened in several other games yesterday that finished with lopsided final scores.
 
Football games are won and lost in the trenches.

I say this as a highschool halfback who once scored 4 touchdowns in one game.

Dude, on every single fucking checkdown, there was a WR open. A couple had Moore on a fucking island.

Fields played tentative and scared from the opening whistle. The screen passes were ridiculous, but if he's gonna check it down on every dropback, ya may as well call a screen.


The Bears were awful, and Fields was a big part of it.

There's a ton of youth on both lines for Chicago while GB came into this season with a top 5-10 OL and a top 10 DL when healthy. Van Ness is a monster. The NFCN will run through either GB or Detroit this year for sure.
 
There's a reason QBs don't throw at Alexander.
 
The worst thing I can say about the Bears is that I still don't see the Packers doing better than 9-8, 10-7.

I doubt it'll be like 7 on 7 the rest of the season. Dude had all day to throw. Bears d-line picking up where they left off last year.:pout:

Couldn't have hurt. I only saw him touched one time, and that was as much his fault (dropped his eyes) as it was our d-line's.

This is what I think. First game jitters and not having all his WRs was one thing. But the Bears were woefully bad.
 
However, if the Pack can control the hamstring injuries a little better. At end of game, #1 WR, #1 RB were out and 2 WR was questionable coming in.

Dominated in the trenches happens each week in the NFL. This was like watching pros vs. high schoolers. Love had all day to throw every time, and GB was getting constant penetration without hardly having to blitz. FFS the entire line was called for a penalty one time, and Jones had like 3 flags called just on him.

Yes, I know the play you're talking about and I admitted Fields missed some guys downfield, but it's not like Fields is afraid to throw downfield. It's one of his strengths. It's hardly news that Getsy constantly relies on screens and doesn't like to attack downfield, and that was evident again. Fields didn't help himself many times yesterday, but you're not going to get a QB to come in that's going to win that game yesterday.
