Yeah, seems justifiable, since the guy was clearly escalating with a firearm already. Probably not in the U.S., where it would probably be 50-50, whether someone wanted to prosecute for murder.
Once you take away the gun what do you do? Give it back to him? No. He could wrestle it back and he's already indicated what he would do with it. Drop out the magazine? No. He could have another one and reload. Discard it? No. He could pick it up again.

Case closed to me.
It probably doesn’t help his cause that he kept pulling the trigger until it clicked.
I can see that. I'd hate to be in that situation.

Prosecutors and jurors go both ways on that one. Pull the trigger once or twice with a fatal shot, and you get accused of being an efficient, cold-blooded killer. Empty the magazine into the perp and you can claim fear or unfamiliarity with the firearm.
Key is that the bad guy was the one who introduced it. He had probably wasn’t going to be doing anything pleasant with it.
Self defense, then abusing a corpse. A misdemeanor.

The beating was 100% called for and no way I don’t completely annihilate him.
The problem is after you beat him within an inch of his life do you just take off or call the police? On one hand the guy needs to be charged with assault but the problem is no way I leave him in a state where I wouldn’t be sharing a jail cell with him.
That would be my problem. If some guy did that to my son, especially at such a young age, I would have likely beaten the guy to death.
My only hope is if someone dragged me away.

You wouldn't even think about what you were doing, "it' would just kick in and the dude would be decimated. I'm a big guy but take that out of the equation because we are talking about an adrenaline rush of the type that allows moms to lift cars to save kids kind of level. You hit someone repeatedly with that cursing through your body and you become a sledgehammer. Fear is gone, focus is gone and primal instincts just take over.
That guy is dead and I have an unwanted legal issue on my hands.
I'm not a huge guy, but have always remained fit. And while I'm generally laid back and pacifist, something like this would turn my hands into lethal weapons.

Mannequins don’t move and you don’t follow them with your punch.
That dude is a bad person that was having a bad day and is annoyed with kids. Probably mentally ill to boot but still deserved what he got.
I only counted two square punches. Fucker is lucky it wasn't me.
