Game Day coming to Third Saturday in October matchup

This is why you would be like Butch Jones as a coach. Butch thought the same thing in 2016 with Josh Dobbs against South Carolina (he wasn't 100%) and you came out with a big L.

What is Alabama going to do next year without Bryce Young? You need to have all your players ready to go at all times.
You do realize, Tennessee's offense would take an ENORMOUS step backwards if Hendon Hooker is hurt and you have to rely on Joe Milton, right? Or are you under the assumption Joe Milton would step into the Tennessee offense and automatically start completing 70% of his passes, while never throwing interceptions like Hooker?

I told you my opinion of how the game goes. I don't think Alabama's offensive performance is going to change that much no matter who is behind center because I really think they are going to throw the ball on us successfully with any of the QBs. Perhaps you get 2-3 more passes with BY.

Alabama is going to have to find a way to run the ball. If not, Bryce Young may look like how he did against Texas for 3-4 quarters and Tennessee should score more than 19 points against Alabama.

There is a scenario where Alabama runs the ball down our throat and wins by 4+ TDs because their O-line is bigger and tougher. However, if that scenario doesn't happen, I like our chances a little more.

BY could not pass on Texas because his Offensive Line and Wide Receivers. He doesn't have the players he had last year. Those spots for Alabama are going to have to step it up and prevent pressure and make big plays on 3rd/4th down when they are close to goal line.

Forcing turnovers and controlling the line of scrimmage against our offense is also something that Alabama can do depending on outcome of game. If Tennessee cannot run the ball, the offense will struggle as well.

Basically this game may just come down to the line of scrimmage. That tends to favor Alabama.

Yes, but truly think about that. Unless I completely misunderstood, which is possible -- you said teams have tore up Tennessee passing the ball. Milroe is a running QB. The guy has run for more yards than he has passed for. Saying the offensive performance wouldn't change no matter who is at QB is crazy, especially when the starter is the reigning Heisman winner and the backup has exactly one start under his belt.

Do you honestly feel Tennessee's offensive performance wouldn't change if Hooker is out and you have to start Milton?

We are not talking about Tennessee, we are talking about Alabama. Some of Tennessee's worse losses have been to backup QBs. Notably the 2001 SEC title game.

Anthony Richardson was a running QB as well but he wasn't running much against Tennessee, he was throwing the ball.

I can say, you are most likely the only person in America, who thinks Alabama's offense will be the same whether it is Milroe or Bryce Young at QB.

It will be a fun game to watch regardless of who is at QB, but I will say this -- if Milroe is the QB, I really like Tennessee's chances. If Young is the QB, I really like Bama to win.

You are putting words in my mouth. I said there is more to the game then that. Bryce Young far better with close game but I think Alabama and Tennessee will get in a shoot out either way unless Alabama just controls the line of scrimmage.

If you think Alabama is going to pile up points with or without Bryce Young -- you are saying the offense will be the same regardless of which QB is under center.

I just can't imagine many people feel the same way. I guarantee if you ask Bama fans -- 100% say the offense is exponentially better with Bryce Young at QB. Hell -- they had people calling for Milroe to be pulled from the last game at half time. Now he will be able to put up points with Hooker and Tennesee? I just don't see it.

Will shall see though. Going to be a fun watch.

I understand what he is saying it. Tennessee's pass defense is like 120th in the country, but it's not just about putting up yards but limiting mistakes and Bryce Young is going to make a lot less than Milroe

Exactly. Even Saban has been focusing in on the other positions in his pre-game discussions talking about the line needs to hold up and receivers need to play better, etc.

Ultimately, if Tennessee can even break even at the line of scrimmage, I think we have a good chance to win this game whether Bryce Young plays or not. I think that is going to be more important to the out come of the game.

Tennessee NEEDs to stop the run and force the pass.

@NewPhoneWhoDis

By the way, a lot of rumors/speculation pointing to Bryce Young is NOT going to be playing. Several information is coming out that the injury may be worse than is being told to the media.

If Young isn't playing, then I extend my congratulations to Tennessee for their upcoming victory.

If he does play, Bama has a shot.

I still think you guys have a chance against Tennessee without Young. It will come down to whether you can run the ball or not. We are very good against the run but Alabama has been able to beat us up front in the past.

Granted, this Alabama team doesn't seem quite as good as past teams for some reason. I kind of like the take from Josh Pate regarding Alabama. You are just not playing well as a team but at some point you get this impression that Alabama is going to fix it and roll like they did every year. Once they fix it, Alabama will be best team in the country.

Keep in mind, you still have 4-5 recruiting classes that rank in the top 3. We have one class with Josh Heupel that was top 20 and a bunch of transfers. We lost 60 players from Pruitt era. This makes what Heupel is doing even more impressive. People insult our defense on here but considering what we have and what this team has been through, I think our defense is actually overachieving.

EDIT: Regarding middle paragraph of last post, I just hope it isn't against us Saturday that you fix things and we do happen to beat you guys for once in a long time :). To be fair, I am old enough that I remember the Fulmer era and our streak with him very well. Alabama starting losing focus with us and Florida was all the attention and top rival. With Saban and Alabama, it has turned back to a rivalry from Tennessee's side. I am not sure how Alabama fans see the rivalry but it seems serious on your end as well.

Alabama-Tennessee, in my opinion, is a terrible rivalry other than the turning points because it always seems like one program is good and the other is struggling so there are long streaks. I think it is because we literally recruit the same areas and it is hard for one program to be up when the other is up as well. Granted, Tennessee's terrible AD situation and Coaching hires also really ruined our program. Danny White is the first great AD we have had since Doug Dickey and was, interestingly, the only AD search that was dominated by boosters. Tennessee's boosters are finally behaving and letting the administration run the show from what I am gathering and that has paid dividends.
